Re: Spoiling for a fight? You'll probably find one!

So, is there a hard requirement to hand over CHL if the only thing you are doing is OCing and minding your own business? I will give up the license for the first half year or so, but after that, I might ask the officer what cause they had to stop me from my business around town. What changes after ...

Re: A Look At The Glock 43 (Several Photos)

I think width is the biggest thing the 43 has going for it when compared to the 26. I was going to grab a 43, but I found the width difference didn't make up for the 4 round disadvantage. Also, with a 26 I can easily carry a spare 15 or 17 round mag, all you get is another 6 with the 43. Major down...

Re: Spoiling for a fight? You'll probably find one!

Understandably, there has been a lot of discussion about the potential response, or harassment some claim, of law enforcement to people carrying openly. It will probably be much like it was in the early days of concealed-carry when the concept was new. It was very common for drivers to be disarmed ...

Re: Dallas Morning News 05/24/15

In a letter to the editor. Reflecting on the Twin Peaks massacre, I wish to suggest to those in Austin eager to pass open carry legislation to consider how the death count would have been more tragic were open carry legal. The shooters would have been carrying AK 47 assault rifles. Why would any la...

Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco

I have not read through all the responses here (don't have the time), but if I'm correctly understanding the general gripe, might I suggest everyone thoroughly read, analyze, and understand in their entirety Chapters 6, 7, 15, 19, & 71 of the Texas Penal Code before providing any further "e...

Re: Glock 19 fit

Being able to place slow-fire shots on a single target again and again is a function of the mechanical accuracy of the gun and the shooter's ability to maintain a proper sight picture through the trigger pull. Experienced shooters can usually accomplish this with just about any firearm regardless o...

Re: An honest response from a local LEO (HB910)

I asked him about the Ohio case in general and HB910..... "As far as the Ohio case goes the reason, probably only reason, there is/was a 4th amendment claim is because he went well beyond just contacting the guy and asking to see his license or checking to see if he had one. The issue in my op...

Re: Glock 19 fit

Glock grip angle is different (slanted more) than many other pistols. For this reason many don't like Glock and don't shoot it as well. Conversely, many Glock shooters don't shoot other handguns as well or as instinctively.

I don't recall John Wayne ever shooting anyone. Period.

Re: Shooting someone in the Back (NonLEO vs LEO)

I'm not a LEO, but at the end of the day citizens will decide what is acceptable. They will make those decisions through pandering politicians who will pass laws to garner votes. Tragically, those standards are likely to be set by reactionary, emotional responses. We've learned though westerns and ...

Re: Shooting someone in the Back (NonLEO vs LEO)

There was an officer involved shooting in NYCity recently, where the officer shot the perp in the back, and from the video it's a good shoot. The perp was beating another officer with a hammer. Great example of a perfectly justified "shot in the back" http://youtu.be/GFg5RlUsz0M" onc...

Re: Shooting someone in the Back (NonLEO vs LEO)

I don't generally quote Wikipedia, but this one is reasonably accurate description of the finding in Tennessee v. Garner (to best of my knowledge) Law enforcement officers pursuing an unarmed suspect may use deadly force to prevent escape only if the officer has probable cause to believe that the su...
