Re: No place but Afghanistan
Sadly it's up to 12 confirmed KIA US service personnel. From the video out there it looks like it could be 100+ Afghanis killed. This is terrible. this news is tragic and heartbreaking. Our young men and women in uniform should have already been safely home from Afghanistan. I am not easily moved b...

Re: 10 Ways to Spot Great Teachers (and Avoid Crummy Ones)
I certainly was never questioning your point or questioning anyone's credentials. I am simply pointing out that there are some things which need to be learned that can best be taught by a skilled speaker (or writer) who can present the material in a way that is easily understood perhaps with some re...

Re: 10 Ways to Spot Great Teachers (and Avoid Crummy Ones)
The author of the article has written pretty extensively on the subject of developing talent The Talent Code: Greatness Isn't Born. It's Grown. Here's How. It aligns with my own experience as well as neuroscience presented by Dustin Salomon: Mentoring Shooters I certainly don't doubt the science. A...

here's a couple of videos along the same lines from "what you would call a professional" youtuber, Paul Harrell.

Re: 10 Ways to Spot Great Teachers (and Avoid Crummy Ones)
aside from number 8 I think that there is a time and place for all of the things describing the "PT" As for dismissing questions, it's understandable if one is addressing a large group that he or she may not be able to answer all questions or to answer questions in great detail. I would sa...

Re: I think the forum is dying
:iagree: I have not been on in a long time, maybe too long, but with the latest legislative session and September 1st looming, I logged in hoping for some explanations and discussions of the legal changes. Sadly, I'm not really seeing any. Even the legislation area, which previously held a wealth o...

Re: I think the forum is dying
I still get individuals calling/email/texting about getting the concealed handgun license and I explain that it's now the LTC. Concealed Handgun License, maybe be obsolete language in the state of Texas, but is still a relevant term in national politics so Iam not surprise that people still ask abo...

Re: what is your preferred zero distance
I think that for my needs I may want to zero my optic at 100 yards and zero my iron sights at 25 or 50. Sounds like 50 yd and 100 yd zero have quite a bit of support on this forum. I had always just assumed zero of iron sights and RDS at 25 yards, and scopes on a case by case basis. But I feel like ...

Re: I think the forum is dying
I contend that the problem is with the way that new members are approved. Looking at the Members list there were about 3 new members added this year. There was a huge batch of new members added in August of last year, and no other new members added in 2020. No new members other than our old friend A...

what is your preferred zero distance
I am asking because my dad was telling me about his trip to the range and he zero'd his AR-15 at 36 yards because of this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jttB1kUXfJE He zero'd at 36 yards and then fired at 25 yards, 50 yards, and 100 yards. I watched the video, but to me it looked more convin...

Every class I tell my students about this forum. So hopefully a few new people each week.. There really does appear to be something continuing to be wrong with the site. If you click on "members" at the bottom of the desktop browser page, and then sort membership by most recent join date....

looking for basic or intermediate handgun classes this fall - Houston-South
Does anyone know of any ranges offering in person courses this fall. My preference would be outdoors, but if the travel is too much more than an hour or so then I do know of a couple places close by that I can get training on indoor ranges. Does anyone have any experience with training at Shoot Poin...

Re: 25 things an armed person needs to be good at to be well prepared for armed self-defense
You have to assess what’s not right to determine if it’s a threat. You have to – in real time – decide if it’s a deadly force threat. These two sentences to me would seem to be critical point. To hesitate could get you or a loved one killed. But a "bad shoot" and you are charged with murd...
