Re: Gun Stores Near Little Elm

I would check out: Old Town Gun Shop (972) 420-7923 179 W Main St. Lewisville, TX Doc's Gun Shop 972) 245-2955 1600 Whitlock Ln. Carrollton, TX Since the public range on 380 closed, I shoot at either Bullet Trap on Ave. K in east Plano and at DFW Gun on Mockingbird. Both have decent showrooms (Bulle...

Re: Show & Tell - What is the latest handgun that you've bou

I just picked up a Sig P238 SAS at lunch today. I'll prolly regret it, but I liked the idea of a pocket-sized 1911. Why would you regret it? I have heard they were good little pistols. It was an impulse purchase. I typically like to rent one first and try it out, but I really liked the look and fee...

Re: Conceal Carry a 1911

I carry a S&W 1911PD in a Milt Sparks VMII (IWB) at 4 o'clock with a t-shirt tucked under the holster (for comfort) and an overshirt untucked. It helps to have a dark outer shirt, or one with a pattern of some kind. I also wear a bullhide 1.75" belt from thebeltman.net. A solid belt really ...

Re: I went and did it again.

+1 on DeSantis. I like the Superfly's concealment panel. It attaches with velcro so it can be removed. It's basically a Nemesis with an extra bit to hide the weapon.

Shoulder holster question - any ideas?

I'm thinking about a shoulder holster for ccw, especially for motorcycle riding this summer. Does anyone know of a rig for a 1911 than can be worn between a t-shirt and an overshirt (hawaiian or otherwise) without printing? I'm a big guy (5XLT) and wear loose-fitting shirts, but I'm concerned about ...

Re: Holsters in DFW

DFW Gun Range on Mockingbird has a decent selection, although not quite as good as BT.

Re: Denton Gun show

I went to the show in Denton a few weeks ago. The old Home Depot works well, but parking is a bit of a pain. It's a smaller show than the ones in Dallas or Mesquite, but worth the short trip from Frisco.

Too bad the Embassy Suites in Frisco stopped having shows. Now that was convenient.

Re: DFW Gun Range

I took my CHL renewal at DFW Gun Range. Nice guys. The staff seems to be more customer friendly than some other local ranges, and it is possible to get in some range time without huge crowds.

Re: What's the Origin of Your User Name?

Mine's pretty easy. I'm an I.T. director (officially director of information security) for a large retail firm. I have a background in forensics and investigations. I'm also a major geek (techno and otherwise), so it seemed to fit. Plus Ape, my non-cyber nickname, was taken.

Re: ammo on sale

As of yesterday, Cabela's in Buda had a good bit of Buffalo Bore (and other brands) of ammo in .38 Spl +P, .357, .40, .44 mag, and a few others. I even found a few boxed of .44 SPL. No .380 or .45 ACP, though.

Re: USB Modem Cards

We use aircards from Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T at my office. Verizon tends to be the fastest. You can tether most smartphones, but that limits your ability to receive a call.

Dell used to offer laptops with built-in aircards, but these limited you to one carrier.

I play mostly WOW, but I regret not keeping up with America's Army. Anyone know if it is still online?
