Re: School Field Trip

If a person is "on his child's 2nd grade field trip", they cannot carry a weapon unless they are a LEO or other exempted person. If any person shows up at a 30.06/30.07 posted location and enters while carrying a gun, they are committing a crime, (misdemeanor in the case of 30.06) regardl...

I wonder if that business allowed their employees to carry.

Re: Buying Ammo at Walmart

Locally I have several choices 1. WalMart but usually need to find the person with the key. I do get good prices on the value pack Federal or Winchester 12 g shotshells and no key needed. Also usually a good price on clay birds. When they have bricks of 22 they have not increased prices. They rarel...

Re: 1911 Disassembly

There is an alternative method which I always use now. The first thing I do (after ensuring it's unloaded) is to push the slide back and remove the slide stop. Then as you ease the slide forward with you hand on top of the slide, you curl your fingers under so you can control the recoil spring. Onc...

Re: 1911 Disassembly

Not necessarily. This would be appropriate for those 1911s where front section of the barrel is a little wider - for example, the Colt series 70s which came with a collet-style bushing. The thicker barrel up front allowed an easy method to get a nice lockup into the springy fingers (for enhanced ac...

Re: Bell County ordered to take down the signs

I'm seriously surprised the Bell County Justice Complex was ruled in violation. It's pretty much 90% courtrooms with a few administrative areas, such as the county clerks in varying areas. Unless someone is going into the bathroom, the clerk office or library, one will find themselves violating 46....

1911 Disassembly

Potentially dumb question here. I thought I knew how to disassemble a 1911, but now I am second guessing myself. After triple checking that the gun is unloaded, I have always started the disassembly by depressing the recoil spring plug and turning the barrel bushing..... This morning I saw something...

Re: Buying Ammo at Walmart

Adding staff to cover every department would cut into profits. The employees at Walmart are solely there to stock and face product. The cashiers are being replaced by self-checkout. That's it. Take your money to a business that operates on customer service, not a feed mill for your dollars. "Y...

Re: Boyert Shooting Center

Just wanted to stop back by to clear up one thing. This place takes their closing times very seriously. One post in the linked threads above indicated that as long as you were there before closing, they would give you the full hour. Not true, at least at the Katy location. I stopped in last week 9 ...

Re: Boyert Shooting Center

Sorry to keep monopolizing this thread, but I just found out today that Boyert memberships are now good at both locations. Their Katy location is the closest range to my house, and their Westheimer location is the closest range to my work. Let's just say that this news made me very happy :woohoo :th...

Re: Federal LEO, Texas residents, LTC

Okay, that went in a different direction than I thought it would. Let me clarify. In applying for a Texas LTC, are there any procedural waivers for Federal Officers who are Texas residents? Example, Texas Peace Officers only have to pay the $25, file a form, no class required. While, Retired Federa...

Revolvers (at least really light weight models) have the opposite issue. Bullets jumping their crimp due to recoil.
