Re: Academy sports employee fired for trying to stop pistol thief

Academy's response is not proportionate to the alleged violation. In the news media, one of the employees said they never received training on the store's policy. Second, the employee did have good intentions, stopping a thief from stealing a pistol. Third, why not just counsel the employee and let...

Re: Arlington Parks Mall Shooting

As to whether or not 18-20yr olds can lawfully carry in Texas, I have fingerprinted a number of them for their LTCs, and one was open carrying sans license when I fingerprinted him. My understanding is that 18-20yr olds carrying without a license must open carry. Does that sound right? On a related ...

Re: New Problem! M1A or M1 Carbine

I have owned an M1A (the only gun I ever regretted selling), and my son still has his, so I get to shoot it once in a while. I currently own a vintage M1 Carbine, and I really like it. Ammo can be more difficult to find than .308, and it’s generally a little pricey considering its power or lack ther...

Re: Vista Outdoor sells it's outdoor and sporting products to Czechoslovak Group

I'm not very savy about stuff like this. Is this a good or bad thing? I remember seeing a video about this not too long ago. The presenter's conclusion was that it probably wouldn’t affect us much…so a more or less neutral thing. He was surprised that it CZ's offer wasn’t the winning bid. Those com...

Re: What gun related gifts did you receive?

I got a heat-resistant suppressor storage bag, a heat-resistant suppressor cover, and a suppressor "oven mitt" for removing/handling hot suppressors. Non-gun related: a bottle of Knob Creek Smoked Maple bourbon, and a Corkcicle Whiskey Wedge bourbon glass. https://corkcicle.com/cdn/shop/pr...

That’s exactly my sentiments. The Mossberg 930/936/940 shotguns are very easy shooting.

Re: Opinions needed please

I ended up paying exactly $1,000 (well, technically, $999.99) for the Mossy. I'll admit I've never tried it with low-recoil shells--don't feel the need for the low-recoil, diminished muzzle velocity stuff--but have fed it all sorts of 2.75" and 3" shells from #8 through 000 and slugs. Onl...

Re: Opinions needed please

I would love a Beretta 1301, but have neither the funds or a real need, and another Benelli is way beyond my current income. That said, I do own a Benelli SBE II, and when it works, it’s wonderful. However, I’ve never been able to get to to reliably feed a third round with 2-3/4" #7.5 or #8 bir...

Re: Democrats increasingly supporting gun ownership

This is interesting, because my conversion from liberal to conservative to libertarian, and from democrat to republican to independent, began with the acquisition of my very first gun—the 1943 Ithaca 1911A1 I inherited from my father after his death in 1990.

Re: Shout out to Bushnell Customer Service

I received the replacement scope yesterday…just 2 days after my call to Bushnell customer service. It’s a VERY cool optic, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to use it.

Re: Court Ruling Shakes Up New York's Concealed Carry Law Landscape

How does one prove "Good moral character"? The court struck down New York's requirement for applicants to turn over their social media identities, which the state was trying to include in the "good moral character" requirement. It was struck down on a 1st Amendment basis … which...
