Just think, there are over 2000 places where you can no longer carry in Texas since you submitted your application.

Re: Does anybody make a holster that doubles as concealed and open carry?

If it classifies as a handgun and you have a license to carry, then you may open carry it in a belt holster or a shoulder holster. What length is the barrel? If the barrel length is less than 16" then you should know definitively whether it classifies as a handgun or a short barreled rifle. If...

That was basically our policy for my daughter, but I think the refusal of gifts from relatives is a bit extreme.

Re: 2nd amend becoming meaningless

So far, the government's answer has been that property owner's rights trump individuals rights, unless of course, we are talking about the right to have a cake made for your gay wedding, or the right to eat at the same counter as people of a different race. The government views these as more import...

Sad to say that Andice General Store is now legally posted 30.06 and 30.07. (As of Sat 2/7/16)

Hard to believe this place would want to alienate its very rural customers, but they are certainly working on it.

Re: Should CHL/LTC Point Out Incorrect Signs, Opinions, etc.

My opinion is that there is no need to say anything while you're there. If there is ANY kind of gunbuster or 30.07 either valid or invalid, but no LEGAL 30.06, that means they don't want to see your gun in their establishment. Either pull out your shirt and shut your mouth and go on in, or go somepl...

FIVE months and waiting....

I know there are several threads about illegal 30.06 signs going, but they're getting rather long and tedious. So I hope it's OK to start a fresh thread where we can wonder when and if the AG's Office is actually ever going to do anything about all the violations that have been reported. Anybody got...

Re: Toddlers shooting people once a week in the US now.

I always wonder how many of these guns have had trigger jobs making the trigger easier for a child to manipulate. Everytime after I clean my gun, I let my 2 yr old hold it before reloading it. We work on grip. Not pointing it at people. Just normal gun safety talks. He cant pull the trigger without...

Re: Boss says my vehicle has to be gun-free

Having taught at a high school, k-9 searches were a monthly occurrence. I'm not sure what they were trained to hit on, but I do recall a student getting called to the parking lot for having shotgun shells in his truck. Sounds like a CLP scented air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror is in ...

Re: Another casualty of Open Carry

So you guys have no appreciation for this restored freedom? Would you rather the government take it away again for another 125 years? Grapevine mills mall has been posted 30.06 for years and now they aren't posted at all. Freedom scares people, we have been told it's ok to lose freedom for safety. ...

Re: Inserting Magazine On A Closed Bolt AR

My questions came about due to the difficulty of getting a magazine to easily insert on a closed bolt, so I thought over time inserting on a closed bolt might create some sort of wear and tear that could be avoided if I always inserted on an open bolt... I do not believe wear is a factor. I think O...

Re: Inserting Magazine On A Closed Bolt AR

On the flip side, inserting a fully-loaded mag on a closed bolt will take a little extra force to get it to seat. Failure to seat the magazine adequately will result in an empty chamber and magazine well. Your magazine will drop. You could de-load your magazine 2-3 rounds to make it easier to seat....

Re: .223 vs 5.56 accuracy beyond 500 yards

Ammo quality is more important. The $1.00 / round Federal tactical ammo groups much better than the XM193 or 223 bulk pack stuff. I've seen no real difference between .223 or 556 in my AR type rifles. Maybe you would see a more definite difference in a bolt action target rifle.
