Update: Support HB972 - debate tomorrow (5/14)

Or at least not a complete dud. This is mentioned in this thread . But given the significance of the discovery, I thought it warranted a new thread as a call to support. Many have disparaged HB972 (including me) because the opt-out clause leaves it somewhat toothless. But it does do something signif...

Re: Committee substitute for HB 972 passes committee

If I'm understanding this correctly, possessing a firearm on the premises of an institution of higher education is no longer a violation of the penal code. This means, literally, it is not a violation of the law to carry on a campus unless the school has posted 30.06 signs. Then it would become tre...

Re: Committee substitute for HB 972 passes committee

Update on HB 972. The NRA-ILA update this evening highlighted something about this bill that I either did not catch before, or has been added. I have been very disappointed at the opt-out provision. But according to the NRA, this bill would remove criminal penalties for carrying on campus. When scho...

Re: Anti-gun Narrative Destroyed By Justice Dept. Report

I am shocked  to find that even NBC has picked up the story: http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/07/18108298-gun-violence-in-us-has-fallen-dramatically-over-past-20-years-justice-dept-report-finds?lite" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Note the disclaimer at the end...

Re: Lib Coverage of the Convention

I was there on Friday only. I was disappointed that the only apparent minority members of the NRA appeared to be Asian (and very few at that). Though I could have easily missed them in the crowd, I failed to note a single Black or Hispanic attending. All I saw were old white folks with very few kid...

Re: Thoughts on Manchin-Toomey Amendment

Actually, there's no cognitive dissonance here (I think that's the term you might have meant rather than intellectual dishonesty). I didn't use intellectual dishonesty to refer to this. I used it in reference to us claiming the anti's always ask for an inch when they will want a mile later. It is i...

Re: Thoughts on Manchin-Toomey Amendment

Let me add ... when I say conflicted - I mean truly conflicted. The part of me that is happy about the bill failure is ecstatic that it blew up on Obama's face. I couldn't be happier that Obama, Bloomberg and his cronies went home crying in their milk. I just don't know that it was a bad bill - it a...
