Re: Survival Gear
Don't forget water for the toilet (and tp!). Will you be visible when lugging water? You have to consider whether you want others to see you, and if not a pump/intake system and storage tank adjacent to the house might be in order. Plant a couple of tomato plants and tell the neighbors your tank is ...

Re: 10 Secrets Cops Know That Most People Don't
Thanks LabRat for posting that; I enjoyed it, especially the note about the donuts (I like Krispy Kreme). I'm sure being a LEO is a lot better job than many out there, but there's no question it has gotten a lot harder in recent years hasn't it. Although I'd never want to get crosswise with a police...

Re: Jury Duty= Harris County
It always astonished me to realize how hard it is to pick 12 people who are attentive, relatively free of fixed prejudices, willing to listen, with a modicum of common sense, from a crowd of maybe several hundred prospects. It's a tricky business! I tried to avoid jury trials. It is almost impossib...

Re: Jury Duty= Harris County
I've been told a case can be won or lost during jury selection. The lawyers are there to win the case. They start that process during jury selection. It's not about getting to the truth or justice, it's about winning the case and hoping justice is served in the end. Steve nailed what the ADA was do...

Re: Took the Life Membership plunge
Just a month left before the price increases, which are significant.
For all you fellow geezers out there, the over-65 (and Military too, I think) "Distinguished Life" membership is going from $375 to $750.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.
In Texas there's talk periodically about secession. Has there ever in US history been talk of expelling a state from the union? If not, maybe it's time...

When has a government agency ever been held to account for its failures or wrongdoings? Never! NEVER EVER!

Re: Tennessee Bill would allow lawsuits over gun-free zones
My problem with this is it's yet another attempt by government to regulate, and we all know how well that works! I mean, who needs it? AFAIK we are free to sue anyone about anything at any time already. If I am attacked in public, whereever that might be (store, parking lot, you-name-it) I am gonna ...

Re: For Marco Rubio supporters
It is time for someone to end the political nonsense. You see, I don't know what this means anymore. The White House is currently occupied by a "community organizer" who couldn't organize a golf outing, and has become a "my way or the highway" blankety-blank. I don't know that T...

Someone needs to convince me that Ted Cruz is in the race for any reason other than Ted Cruz.
Rumor has it he is a senator from Texas!?!!?? That can't possibly be true!
For Ted Cruz supporters:

Re: For Marco Rubio supporters
Didn't look at the second link, but the first doesn't really give me anything to sink my teeth into i.e. is short on hard facts. Even assuming this was true, "that he might be open to stricter gun laws for convicted felons or the mentally ill', what is the big deal there since even the NRA says...

Thanks baldeagle for posting that. Of course, it was published on the 5th and this is the first I've heard or seen of it (no thanks to ms media), and it carries an awesome message. One that I'm embarrassed to say I just didn't know. How about we close the "not all felons get listed in NICS!?&qu...

It does cause me to wonder, as we have no acquaintances in this regard, how other women whose husbands are in the military (or Nat'l Guard, Border Patrol, police?) feel about this issue.
