Re: Repeal the 30.06 law

To me, this is akin to some of the more aggressive OC folks like OCT. We want it all and we want it now and we are going to make it happen our way. That accomplishes nothing. If you dislike parts of the chl law, try to repeal it specifically. For example, carry in bars. Then, take on another piece,...

Re: Repeal the 30.06 law

I would love to see it changed from a criminal penalty to a civil penalty. Carry past a 30.06 sign subject to a $200 fine. This is a great example of how we could have meaningful impact with a relatively small change to the current law. +1, jmra and Wes! Let's take a look at a state where "no ...

Re: Repeal the 30.06 law

How then does a property owner reserve his right to keep you out? Your rights do not trump the property owners's rights. A property owner always has the right to keep anyone off his property or out of his dwelling/premise. If a property owner doesn't want guns on his property, he can post a sign an...

Re: Repeal the 30.06 law

When 30.06 first came out, entities could post signs at the entrance to their parking lots, effectively keeping permit holders from even storing the gun in their car. That law was changed and so can the 30.06 law. 30.06 allows entities to deny permit holders from exercising their rights. The reason...

Re: Repeal the 30.06 law

There are many states where 'no-gun' signs have no force of law and they also don't have a 30.06 type regulation. My idea is to repeal the signs and allow law-abiding, permit holding citizens to freely carry anywhere. Why should a private entity have any right to tell me I can't carry on their premi...

Repeal the 30.06 law

I wrote the following to Representative Taylor today. I'm interested in feedback and also in lobbying to get the 30.06 law repealed. Dear Representative Taylor, I urge you to introduce legislation repealing the 30.06 regulation prohibiting concealed carry permit holders from entering premises with t...

Re: Repeal 30.06

I think it would be reasonable to change the law such that armed CHLs cannot be prohibited from carrying on commercial/business property. Yes, it is private property, but we regulate commercial property extensively now with building codes, fire codes, the Americans With Disabilities Act, local zoni...

Re: Repeal 30.06

I think you are a little late to try to get anything into this session. Also, you need to get your facts straight on what the penalty really is. It would be up to a Class A misdemeanor depending on where it was. There is no such thing as a Class 3 misdemeanor in Texas. Thank you for the input and I...

Repeal 30.06

I've been a member for a long time but haven't posted too often. I apologize if there are other threads along this line, but I searched and couldn't find any. Is there any legislation being proposed to repeal 30.06? I wrote the following to my State Senator Ken Paxton and State Representative Van Ta...

Show them the signs

In Texas, we have what are known as 30.06 signs that anyone can post on their property and the signs serve to prohibit concealed weapon permit holders from bringing their weapons on the premises. They look like this: http://i46.tinypic.com/r249j8.jpg We also have another sign that looks like this: h...

Looking for a tuckable that really works

My EDC is a Glock 30. I usually carry it in a belly band and am very satisfied with the BB's ability to conceal the 30 in all situations. But I'd also like to try an alternative. I have tried a Remora 10ART RFT tuckable and I've also tried a High Noon tuckable. With both of them, I end up looking li...

How many states honor the Texas CHL?

According to the Texas State Rifle Association, 30 states honor the Texas CHL: https://www.tsra.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=310:chl-reciprocity-agreements-with-texas&catid=41:top-headlines" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; According to http://w...
