Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/18/opinions/something-terribly-wrong-with-donald-trump-dantonio/index.html CNN decides to not mince words: Something is terribly wrong with Donald Trump. I guess they have decided to go back to the 25 Amendment playbook since the Russian collusion thing isn’t working. They haven’t realized you can’t cry wolf (Trump) or say the sky is falling ( global warming ) before people aren’t believing a thing you say. Who cares what Vanity Fair, CNN or any other prog socialist fake news organization says about the President? He has even won over all but the most stringent Never Trump crowd. Those that remain are becoming less relevant and listened to every day...

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/01/26/melania-trump-apology/ This hasn’t received any press. It appears the First Lady has agreed to a settlement with the Telegraph. The last line may make your day. Now we need to get some US media outlets apologizing and paying substantial settlements for all of their lies...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

I don't know if Mattis is right or wrong but if one disagrees with the president than resigning is the right thing to do. My personal experience with generals is that they are not necessarily the smartest men in the world and that their self interest is not to wind things down but to keep things going. We also have a civilian commander in chief and one follows his orders in our system. The U.S. can not be the policemen of the world. We have enough men and women put in body bags over this fight and not enough of our "allies" doing their fair share. At least we won't have one of the guys we are training turn around and kill one of us. We pulled out of Viet Nam and I believe history has shown that it was a smart move and that relations with that country are at least acceptable now. Time will tell how this move goes but I don't see that our generals have been overly correct in the past. :iagree: https://kakistocracyblog.wordpress.com/2018/12/19/no-war-is-hell/ Finally, the dismount was struck with this solemn lament: we should keep our troops in Syria and get them off the US border where they don’t belong. Where do troops belong? That’s actually a fundamental question more than a political one. As such, why does a country form an armed forces? To defend foreign ethnostates? I mean, an additional foreign ethnostate? Is it foreign democracy? Foreign freedom? Foreign trade? What does the military do for us? Given the Pentagon’s $676 billion price tag, it’s a question to which many more non-foreigners should be demanding an answer. The obvious fact is that the core function of militaries is to prevent invasion of their sponsoring nation. If they do nothing else, they have served their purpose. If they do not serve this purpose, then nothing else they do matters....

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Mattis resigns and insinuates unilateral announcement of draw down in Syria was the last straw. Getting a little harder to put lipstick on this pig. And this from a Trump voter. https://apnews.com/6ebe8b39476240d194c57c7dbb54d43e Unfortunate for the country. Sad to learn. I disagree. The President has a plan, Mattis disagrees with the plan so he decided to leave office. Mattis never felt strongly enough to resign about any of the things Obama did to the military that are still negatively affecting the services, what does that say about him? It's time America takes a step back from military adventures all over the world. We have been at war continuously in Afghanistan since 9/11/01, still no end in sight. We have spent or allocated trillions of dollars to Middle East wars, most of that through additional indebtedness. Before anyone jumps on me about my stance, let me make it clear I support the men and women of our military 100%. It's just time to quit sending them to die or be maimed in order to project the political agenda of the swamp...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

On the Jimmy Kimmel show tonight there was a skit where God and Satan did rock/paper/scissors to decide who should get Ted Cruz when the time came. God did rock and Satan did scissors so God won. Then God says "well, he's all yours" to Satan. Satan says "hey wait, you won!". God says "he's yours, I couldn't stand that face for all eternity". It was pretty funny. Stupid and insulting. Describes both Kimmel and the skit...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

I never took what Trump said to mean Mexico was going to be writing a check. That would have been pretty darned naive to believe, although we do have a generation of very simple humans among us now. I believe Mexico would be paying for the wall in less American dollars from drugs, illegals who send money back to circulate their economy and possibly a raised tariff or two. The only way I see Mexico paying to build a wall is if huuuge amounts of illegal aliens started migrating back to their home countries...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

What I find funny, is that Trump announced his Executive Order plans, and it barely got a ripple in the MSM. They are still working on blaming him for the Pittsburgh shooting, and the mail bomber. He really makes them work for their outrage. By the time they get heated up about the EO, he will be on to something else. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dq1jOg2VAAAYkiV?format=jpg...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

In either the most arrogant display of ignorance concerning the US Constitution, or the newest in a long line of absurd pronouncements to distract the populace just days before the mid-term elections, tRump proposes to end birthright citizenship protected in the 14th Amendment with an executive order... Yep, winning as only tRump knows how. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-immigration-citizenship/trump-targets-u-s-birthright-citizenship-as-elections-loom-idUSKCN1N41MD I am not sure how name calling of The President bolsters your case but civil discourse is an altogether different topic. So to the topic at hand. The 14th Amendment does not establish in Constitutional verbiage birthright citizenship nor was it intended to. The only Supreme Court Ruling on the matter I am aware of is Elk vs Wilkins circa 1884 which clearly affirmed the status of the parents did in fact determine the citizenship or eligibility of the child. Keeping in mind when the 14th amendment was passed there was no such thing as an illegal immigrant established by legal language in the Federal Statutes. The citation if the 14th has been a fairly recent construct and frankly a misuse of the amendment. Much like the 2nd Amendment a quick reading of the historical background and writings of the authors can clearly establish intent and meaning. The 14th is no different and I offer you below the words of its' author. I hope that you will agree by both authors intent and SCOTUS ruling birthright citizenship has been a graceful concession but not Constitutionally protected. If you want to argue it should be that is an entirely different topic and would require an additional amendment or a revision of the 14th. Senator Jacob Howard clearly spelled out the intent of the 14th Amendment in 1866, which was to define citizenship. He stated: "Every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons. It settles the great question of citizenship and removes all doubt as to what persons are or are not citizens of the United States. This has long been a great desideratum in the jurisprudence and legislation of this country." TxHawk you will quickly realize that facts don’t make any difference to certain posters here. You’ve engaged one of them...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

I love the irony in someone posting about Trump's lies and then supplies a link to WAPO. Same people also quote Huffpo and other leftist propaganda machines to support their positions. I love the way some people dismiss an argument without addressing any of the issue raised. Such automatic dismissals used to be evidence of a closed mind and/or self deception... but in the current age it's more often referred to as Winning! philbo, do you ever just get tired of being such a nasty, unhappy, unpleasant and un-neighborly hater? https://media.breitbart.com/media/2018/10/NPC-header-1-640x480.jpg...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

This is why Taylor Swift matters. 102,000 youngsters have registered to vote since she started her campaign. Young heads, full of mush. Maybe so, but each of their votes count as much as yours or mine! I was referring to the folks at CNBC. :biggrinjester: Just because an organization (vote.org) dominated by women says all those votes were triggered by NotSoSwitft's tweet doesn't make it true. Dollar to donut says everyone involved in vote.org is a progressive. https://www.vote.org/team...
