Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray
Trial delays are common in normal times. Not surprising in whatever we want to call these times.

Well, I'm sure he expects to be a witness at some point. He's at Miami PD these days.

The New LTC Test - needs a redo
If you haven't taken the new LTC test, I encourage you to do it as soon as you receive the materials. RSD needs, 1) an editor, 2) have actual instructors take their tests and provide feedback, and 3) generate a new test. I counted 6 questions I had issues with. One needs a complete rewrite. Also, I ...

Re: Sig P320 un-commanded discharges
The P320 is a safe gun. The 'drop issue' was corrected in 2017. This detective's gun is a post 2017 gun. From the picture, it's either an X model or more likely a PRO LE model. What was happening in that purse we cannot know. However, it didn't go 'bang' without some sort of external force being app...

Re: Sig P320 un-commanded discharges
She's pictured with w/ a full size P320 X or PRO in a Serpa holster with a big paddle. That's a large holster, fairly weighty firearm shoved into a purse with an easy to release retention holster.

Re: Time to modernize qual - allow Red Dots
I think we should all bring this issue to DPS' attention at upcoming renewal sessions, which I do on the afternoon of Aug. 24. Continued no-gos on lasers could be understandable as even the green ones are virtually worthless in the daylight. FWIW, I put a semi-pricey red dot on a "training&quo...

I stayed at that Orangewood Suites near the new location about 6 yrs ago. It wasn't terrible.

Re: Time to modernize qual - allow Red Dots
As far as I can tell, this should be a simple administrative action on the part of RSD/DPS. There's no statutory language on optics for LTC. Our job as instructors is not to tell students what to carry. We all have our opinions. The shoot test is pass/fail. Red dots are not going away and as more and...

Time to modernize qual - allow Red Dots
With the explosion of red dots on guns including OEM direct from the manufacturer, has there been any movement from RSD/DPS to modernize the qualification shoot restrictions? Don't know about you, but more and more students are showing up with red dots. When this rule was written, an optic on a hand...

... so as not to overwhelm the system
Heh, and that's probably why RSD sends that email out in batches..... If you get a Bad Gateway error, just keep refreshing. It was a little glitchy for me:

Re: 2021 - back to Georgetown?
All instructors should get the email. They just do in batches, probably alphabetically, so as not to overwhelm the system.

Looks like we're all headed to Georgetown if today's email is accurate. "...you will receive an invitation email containing class dates along with the instructions for reserving your spot in a class."

Re: Safe / unsafe areas to stay for NRA meeting
Right now the roadways are the most dangerous place in Houston, between moron wrong-way drivers, idiots live facetiming as they drive, and the daily 'road rage' shootings, bring your mine resistant vehicle when you come.
