Re: So, anybody else CCW a mousegun?
At this point, this discussion thread appears to be generating more heat than light. As a former LEO and commander of the major crimes forensics team for a 200 officer police department, I've had ample opportunity to make a lot of observations on real world incidents while my teams were drawing chal...

Re: Kimber Ultra - Aluminum vs Steel Question
Two weeks ago, at the range, the guy in the lane next to me was shooting a 4" Kimber. I let him try my 3" Kimber, and he actually found it easier to shoot than his own 4" gun. For me, the 3" bbl aluminum frame Kimber seems to hit a sweet spot in the balance among size, weight, c...

Re: Interviewed?
The passive infrared motion detectors used for motion activated outdoor lighting have optical viewing patterns that look like a series of fingers going out and down in a segmented arc from the detector. They look for moving temperature changes that cross from one observation "finger" to an...

Re: Kimber Ultra - Aluminum vs Steel Question
In a 3" barrel, is there truly a significant gain in control of the recoil of the all steel frame? Is there significant gain in carrying 7 ounces less with the aluminum frame? I believe all of the 3" Kimbers are Aluminum Frames. I've put about 3500 rounds through an original series Kimber...

Re: Interviewed?
suspicious persons calls are considered to be an emergency call Suspicious persons and circumstances are indeed emergency calls, and that's something I should have pointed out in my post. When things have developed to the point where a reasonable person's danger senses are alerted, something bad ei...

Re: stainless steel guns for carry, refinishing ?s
After 35 years of carrying a pretty wide assortment of weapons with most of the available finishes, here's my take on the subject: 1)Intimidation value of stainless vs. a dark finish is an "in the eye of the beholder" thing and not consistent enough to support making a weapon finish choice...

Could well be.
It's generally a good idea to get with the program while He's still in the hinting stage, before He gets to the "smack upside the head with a 2/4" part of the program.......

Re: Interviewed?
You deserve a great deal of credit for making the effort to carefully examine and really think about the many interesting angles to your experience, and I'm sure the next time a stranger shows up on your doorstep you'll be executing a new and improved action plan. Please allow me a few moments to cl...

Re: Interviewed?
For what it's worth, I personally like to do an "after action review" on situations that could have gone badly (as well as ones that actually did go south). To learn as much as I can, I examine both my own experiences and those encountered by others, and welcome feedback from anyone with g...

Re: Interviewed?
Opening the door to unknown persons is, IMHO, an unacceptable risk in the current environment. Going outside to assess the situation is almost never a good idea because it gives tactical opportunity to a stranger and/or his confederates at distances where effective response to surprise attack is pro...
