Re: Overdose Suspect Is Revived By Narcan and Fatally Shoots Firefighter
I wonder if the police would have been within their legal rights to search him before the paramedics revived him. As a first responder the number 1 rule, heck 1 thru 10, is crew safety. An incapacitated person that you respond to falls under implied consent. You need no other justification for trea...

Re: This Day In Texas History - May20
There should be a documentary on Van Cliburn. He was the only American allowed to travel, with the blessings of JFK, to the USSR during the Cuban missile crisis. Many credit his close relationship with Kruschev as being vital to the Soviet stand down. I had the opportunity to meet him at his residen...

Re: TAM In The Hospital
:thumbs2: I just read though this thread. It was a real surprise to see the title. I don't personally know TAM, but through this forum, I have learned to respect the man. Prayers went up as soon as I saw the title and I was thrilled at how fast they worked. By the time I reached the last post, TAM w...

I have a decent Garrett detector. Wish I had more time and places to use it. Good luck on your travels.

Re: Off The Beaten Path - Fort Spunky, TX
joe817 hope I didn't steal your thunder! I enjoy your post. When my wife and I travel around the area/State we see things of interest and search the above mentioned website. Came across some ruins of an abandoned bank in the west side if Joe Pool Lake. Found that not only did it survive the depressi...

Re: Off The Beaten Path - Fort Spunky, TX
My wife's maiden name is Barnard. Descendant of George Barnard. If you are into Texas history, George and Charles are interesting subjects. The story of them rescuing a Spanish woman thru trades and cash from indians should be more well known. Her name is Juanita, which one of the brothers married. ...

Re: What Point of Sale system do you use?
Square is one of the options I was looking at. Didn't know about their firearm prohibition. And yes, we are low volume, low inventory operation do no need to get technical. We just need a way to process debit/cc.
Thank you all for advice.
Peace

What Point of Sale system do you use?
My wife and I have been approached about selling some items we make that would require us to have a POS system that would operate with IOS based mobile phones whether it is connected via WiFi or a mobile network. Thought I would get some suggestions from the community on what you may use, pitfalls, ...

Re: Wear seat belts - even in the back seat!
Yet when I question folks about not wearing their seatbelts I still get stories along this line: "Well, I was in a wreck once and if I was wearing a seatbelt I would be dead." What a bunch if horse hockey. I can post pictures of my wreck and show that if the driver of the other vehicle wo...

Re: Wear seat belts - even in the back seat!
Having worked several hundred motor vehicle accidents, I've come to the conclusion that it is actually very hard to die in a modern vehicle PROVIDED you follow the instructions- use the seat belt. Just that. Not rocket science. Not hopes and prayers. Not magic chakra rocks. Just buckle up and buckl...

Re: Bonnie and Clyde walk into a BAR...*
My mother-in-laws Mom was a cousin of Bonnie. MIL grew up in Smithfield which is now part of North Richland Hills. I obtained an original, uncirculated, wanted poster of Bonnie and Clyde. An alias for Clyde listed on the back was Roy Bailey. Asked my MIL who Roy was without mentioning the poster. Sh...

Re: Texas-made trauma clamp being discussed at CoTCCC
Sorry for the thread drift... To get back on topic, I'm wondering if the IT Clamp would also be effective in lieu of a chest seal, especially if there's only an entrance wound?? I would say no, without direct evidence or experience. Chest seals allow for one way release of air pressure. IT Clamp ap...

Re: Texas-made trauma clamp being discussed at CoTCCC
Compartment Syndrome is nothing to fool around with. I know two people it happened to, and both ended up losing significant amounts of tissue from their affected leg. One was a friend of mine who had been in a terrible on-track motorcycle accident at Willow Springs Raceway, and her lower leg had be...

Re: Texas-made trauma clamp being discussed at CoTCCC
The EMS agency I work for have been using the IT Clamp for almost 3 years now. They work well for scalp lacerations that are difficult to dress with bandaging and for avulsions. The patients have tolerated them well. The idea is not to clamp and artery or vein. It holds he skin in place allowing a ...
