Re: Glock Killer ?

Gotta admit that I really thought about adding a .38 Super with a SIG P220. Don't know if it's still available in .38 Super, but was last time I looked. Things are actually better today if you like .38 Super and handload, once you decide on the best ejector, anyway, in the case of the 1911. The Supe...

Re: .357" 158 gr. XTP

Pardon the double-post but something else came to mind. As far as expansion and penetration from a .38 Snub, it might be worth considering what the FBI once did. When they were issued 3" S&W M13 .357 Magnums, the duty load was a 158 gr. LSWCHP +P .38 Special. SPEER and Hornady still make th...

Re: .357" 158 gr. XTP

The XTP has a reputation as a penetrator. Did the bullets that went through the water jugs expand much? I'm currently doing some work with that bullet in my 38 special J frames. Boxerrider, the 158 gr. XTPs expanded about the way you would expect. IIRC, Hornady states that XTPs will typically expan...

Re: .357 Magnum Revolver recommendations

If you have an internal debate of single-action vs double-action revolvers, consider yourself lucky. Getting close to 63 now, I feel rather blessed in finding that because my eyes are not as good as they once were, nor my hands as steady; I can shoot my GP100 as well at 7 yards in Double-Action as I...

Re: .357" 158 gr. XTP

After going through some reevaluation of my Balance beam scale and digital, I got another digital. My shooting partner has had very good results with the Frankford Arsenal unit sold by Midway for like $30. It weighs up to 750 grs. rather than the 1500 grs. of other more expensive models. Hoping mine...

Re: Powder Recall

As Ed McMahon used to say, "you are correct, sir!"

I was speaking so much about the powder deterioration so much as what it's done to the lids on the containers. ;-)

Re: Glock Killer ?

TAM, I didn't take your opinion as critical. But as far as arming ourselves with the best tool with the greatest practicality? That is the bailiwick of the 9 x 19mm; not only in this country, but the world over. I don't mean to suggest the term as emasculated so much as miscalculated. From my perspe...

Re: Anyone Interested in .357 Mag Revolver Shotshells?

It's tough for me to judge the shot density since you shot more than once. I would expect the longer barrel to open up the pattern, both because of the increased velocity and greater exposure to rifling, but only testing will verify that. I look forward to seeing what you get. Yeah, like I said bef...

Re: Powder Recall

I do not have any on hand, but, Thank You :tiphat: for the heads up and link. :txflag: :patriot: You betcha, Pete. I checked my 4350, but since my powders come directly from Western, it is quite a lot newer than what's being recalled. If you read the article concerning the reason for the recall, it...

Re: Anyone Interested in .357 Mag Revolver Shotshells?

What was the distance to target when you shot it with the shotshells? Just over 10'. Part of the goal was to get tighter patterns than the typical rating of the SPEER shotshells and capsules of 1" of pattern for every foot of distance. In other words, with #9 shot and the capsules, the expecte...

Re: Glock Killer ?

It’s my observation that many of us who reload tend not to reload for all of our calibers, tending to load for limited purposes. So I think that your experience is probably applied over a broader range than most of us. I actually have the dies for most of the calibers I shoot, but I only actually r...

Re: Glock Killer ?

Buying American doesn't always work so well for 9 x 19mm pistols. Particularly if you handload. Most of them as well as the Glock Gen Vs have short chambers that effect OACL. The Canik TP9 series have no such issues. I have not had the opportunity to check a SIG P-320 for it's chamber-length. While ...

Powder Recall

Just found out today that three of the extruded rifle propellants made by General Dynamics Canada for Western Powder Co. are being recalled. AA 2495, 4064 and 4350 which I have and am checking on at the moment. ;-)

Re: Anyone Interested in .357 Mag Revolver Shotshells?

Here's the test target front and back. 2 shotshells fired into it that created the same patterns. My shots were maybe a tad low. We didn't have the range to ourselves, so I wasn't able to hang a new target for each test. The reason I mentioned the complaint department in my previous post is because ...
