Re: Texas Senator John Cornyn open to finding "Common Ground" on gun control.
I'm open to a bill that keeps mental defectives from obtaining firearms. The issue is that literally nobody is "Adjudicated mentally defective" any more, such that a kid booted out of school for being essentially feral still doesn't meet that definition. A national, public and searchable r...

Re: Normal capacity magazine ban bill introduced in the House
The Virginia Tech shooter murdered 32 and injured 17 people with 10 round magazines. The thing that these cretins are most terrified of is their sick power fantasy being interrupted by someone else carrying a firearm. The desire to exact revenge for a host of real or imagined slights from related o...

Re: To NFA or not to NFA, that is the question
I don't understand the desire to SBR a 5.56 AR-15. The 5.56 is designed to kill with velocity, and develops markedly better ballistics with a 75-77 grain bullet at 2800-2900 FPS; that implies an 18-20" barrel. The AR-15 itself is a poor semi-auto design, not because it is globally bad, but beca...

Re: SCOTUS: Dems introduce bill to add 4 new Justices
How many seats will the Democrats hold in the House and Senate when oil hits $100/bbl and the CNY is trading at 5 for a dollar? There is a triumphalist radicalism tempered by fear that has previously been reserved for communist revolts which seems to be permeating parts of the Democratic party. The ...

Re: News from Yemen
The rebels aren't "the good guys"; they're extremists who have attracted the ire of the Saudis by failing to temper their extremism with greed. The Saudis are not "the good guys" either. The best I can manage is that two groups run by bad people are killing one another for crazy ...

Re: Are you brave enough?
The cognitive dissonance necessary for Democrats to at once decry "privilege" by shouting at some lady that her double-wide is a symbol of white supremacy while ignoring the fact that the Clintons and Bidens exist outside of the law is impressive. Most cults would be glad to have that leve...

Re: Nobody but Trans Secy Pete Buttigieg
I wouldn't care at all how he gets to work, whether by monster truck, helicopter, bike, on foot, crawling, jet pack, pogo stick, et c., EXCEPT that he wants to legislate how plebs like us get to use energy (yes....he wants to direct the legislature controlled by his boss's party on what to enact). H...

Re: Gun Ownership vs Homicide rate - World
Japan's justice system is not like ours. In Japan, when a crime is committed, the cops go and find whomever they think did it and then interrogate that person until they confess. There is something like a 97% conviction rate in their courts, tied largely to this practice (Federal prosecutions here, ...

Re: Making a bullet alloy
I've repeatedly wondered if it's worth it to get into copper bullet casting. I assume that there would be a machining step involved, but the end result could be a very high quality projectile. Copper would be tough to cast - I assume you mean making something like an FMJ, swaging a lead core into a...

Re: Wet-tumbling brass on the cheap
I find that for getting the nasty off of range/bulk brass, pins are unmatched. However, for getting a really polished finish, pin tumbling doesn't finish the job. For range ammo, I just use the pins, but for stuff that I care about, I pin tumble and then vibrate in walnut shells. It's a little more ...

Homebrew Router/NAS/Gateway
I have 2 unused computers sitting around, an 1800x AMD 8 core and a AMD Phenom x6 I have a love/hate relationship with my current NAS, a WD that I can only access using proprieary software that WD discontinued. I have a copy of the installer, but if I lost that, my I could only stare longingly at th...

Re: MOLLY coated lead
Every time someone tells me about how lead is clean and cheap if you do it correctly, I notice that when I do it just isn't. I had to run another guy's reloads at a match awhile back, and the lead buildup on my compensator is a palpable ridge after one match. The cost of Hornady bulk 115 grain HAP i...
