Re: Do not shoot truck rustlers
A good lawyer can bring up clearance and recovery rates for auto theft in Harris County (or all of Texas) as justification of “property cannot be recovered by any other means”. The stolen vehicle recovery rate (including all vehicles such as motorcycles and ATVs) was 4.8% for all of Texas in 2017 ac...

Tell your friend that nearly a million Texans hate him! That is amazing, though.

Re: New Instructor Training Questions
During the classroom portion at the DPS training center are students required to create and show their own PowerPoint? I was just talking to a guy who said he took the class last year and was required to show his PowerPoint and make sure that it covered all required items and covered a minimum of 4...

Re: hog hunting with 10mm pistol: 180gr or 200gr?
Have you done this successfully? When I first caught hogs in a trap, I thought a .45 round to the head would be an efficient and merciful way to dispatch them. Not so. A .45 round won't penetrate a hog's skull. A round in the side will no doubt ultimately kill them, but not right away. They stay on...

Re: Dog attack in St. Petersburg - OK to Shoot Attacking Dog ?
Yes. 9.22 covers anything that is not specifically outlawed, so long as you are acting reasonably and your actions outweigh the harm you are seeking to prevent. So, two rounds into Fido who is actively attacking you, your pet, or a third party with no collateral damage, you are good. Empty a magazin...

David with Skyraider is a good guy. Took my NRA Pistol Instructor from him, and I’m going back for Rifle Instructor next month.

Re: HB 1445 - Intoxicated Carry
This bill would apply to everyone, not just LTCs. I have a big problem with it being anything other than a Class C, unless someone is injured, or the drunk is waving it around. I also have a problem with exempting anyone; apply it to everyone or no one. Chas. Agreed... we already have laws for all ...

Re: HB 1164 - Restrictions on Public Carry
Same stuff that is filed every year and is soundly defeated every year. Fodder for their low information voters so that the Rep can say that they tried, even though they know it has a 0.0001% chance of passing. Oh don’t worry... our side does this too: Stickland with his Constitutional Carry bill is...

Destroy 30.06/07 and 46.035 and 46.03 except for jails, courtrooms (not offices or hallways), and airports... and require Peace Officers and metal detectors at those entrances.
Leave the provision in 30.05 that it can’t be used against license holders.
Everybody wins.

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class
For those of you who have attended class in the past few months (October 2018 - January 2019), are your class sizes like 12-15 students or more like 40 or so?
I heard from the Trooper Trainers that they were talking about creating larger class sizes and I want to see if that is happening. Thanks.

What about LEO and Special Investigators (Feds) who are not currently subject to those sections... Yes, there is no exception for anyone in the proposed 30.06 and 30.07. This will get all of the police organizations to oppose it very quickly. Whether we like that part or not, we need their cooperat...

Re: New Instructor Training Questions
By the way, received my certificate in the mail on December 13th, so that is 6 days from the completion of the DPS class, 2 days of which were a weekend. I was pretty surprised that the State Government got anything sent out that quickly.
