Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

If that's legit, it need to have the date cited and added... then use by Trump as the backdrop to EVERY immigration speech.

philbo wrote: Mon Jun 25, 2018 12:23 am Trump says illegal immigrants should be deported with no due process.

I have to admit that he has been consistent on limiting due process.
I actually don't mind skipping due process for criminal trespass of sovereign borders... since they shouldn't have been able to cross in the first place, keeping them here and draining our already overwhelmed and underfunded system, only worsens the problem for both citizens and criminal aliens alike.

We need a prison like facility with a open door cut into the border wall... put all those caught crossing or caught here illegally into it and let them voluntarily walk out the door back into mexico. Worried about families being separated? We'll make the call to them and see if they WANT to come join you.

I'd call it the homecoming suite. :biggrinjester:

After 100 rounds at 100 yds in a pc of paper, maybe.

Just showed my 9yo that pic and asked him if it was true... he laughed and said "maybe with explosive gunpowder or way too much gunpowder"

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

As for Melania's jacket- If the parents don't care, why should she, or you or me?

I don't buy for one second that ANY criminal immigrant hasn't heard about children being held separately. They know within hours what they need to say to get political asylum, so there is NO POSSIBLE WAY this is a surprise to them... it's only an issue if they get caught. And sadly the odds makers say we catch so few of them that it; worth the risk to keep trying to sneak over.

Sorry, criminal aliens, I have reserved my sympathy for those here legally.

If the USA is so bad, sneak across the southern border of mexico.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Only a handful of months ago, the news was reporting we were on the brink of nuclear war... haven't seen any missiles being tested lately, no threats to the US by NK.

So what happened? Progress was made- yep. are we finished- nope. Are we safer today- yep. hate him all you want, but the President has made progress.
Kim declared back in May when meeting with Moon that the Korean Peninsula should be denuclearized, so not much is really new
Sure he just had a change of heart.
Even if the only thing Trump did was scare NK into believing we'd destroy them, that worked, at least for the time being. And that's a whole lot more than the past pres did.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

So your answer would be to ignore N Korea?

ETA: just noticed your comment about success being premature...
No one said anything was a done deal! But labeling it a complete fail, before the process even runs the course is worse. Just because several past presidents didn't solve it, doesn't mean it's not worth trying or that the current administration can't.

Also, having lived in Canada for 4 years, I know better. You may not like the news cycle on it, but their sense of entitlement is arrogant.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Yes, we should go right back to the Clinton/Bush/Obama methods of dealing with north Korea... because it was so much more effective than what the Trump administration has done.

ETA:

The honest approach would be to start with the where we were when Trump and Kim jun un took their respective offices and then documented activity/progress from there... but that would require you showing some progress on behalf of Trump.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Trump has done more in a year than his predecessor did in 8. And he's done it with no support, a witch hunt going on and half his own party against him... and only a partial cabinet!

I think trump should systematically target each democrats pet programs and let them know he's going to mess it all up if they don't break the stalemate. At some point the country has to see that he's doing good and they are benefiting, even if they hate him.

I think it will come around from the outside... meaning the rest of the world will begin to rally around him and that will push the left into step. You're already seeing lots of leaders changing their tune on him.

Big downside. Not sure what the upside is.
The upside may just be the message - unlike the previous administration, this one will enforce the "line in the sand" and keep it's word when it says it will act. That alone should be helpful on the world stage, regardless of what was or wasn't hit last night or the outcome with syria.

The Obama's selected African American artists, however, if you really wanted to unite America, President Obama might have selected a different artist as some American's might find his selection of artists offensive.
Nah... it's only divisive and racist when a white person selects another.

Their "art" actually speaks [quite articulately] for itself... it shows/says how out of touch they were. :confused5

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Funny you chose that graphic... because in real life we are actually off the chart!

I'll concede that there was significant growth in the market alone... but in the last 12 months, we've grown the equivalent to the last 6-7 years. And considering the train wreck in the lead up to the election in which most saw/predicted a depression coming, I think Trump absolutely deserves some credit.

I bet you think your cute with your little std references, don't you? Bless your heart.

And there is an example of buying the hype that ignores the past and plenty of facts in the process..

You were 1/2 right- it was a bubble back then because it was up on little to no real growth. Now there is growth and foundation to support the climb.

Yep, I'm sure Hillary would have impacted your 401k about the same. OK- Same amount- different direction!! "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"

I've actually been pretty critical of him. But the market jumped on election optimism- and and has ridden on things Trump or the R's have done since. That's not my opinion, that's just what happened. The credit goes to Trump, as the leader of the R's whether you [& I] like it or not.

There are plenty of things I don't like about Trump (policy and personally) but the reality is that he has jump started the economy... and I think he should get credit for everything he does, including the good.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

The stock market is as fickle as a hormonally imbalanced woman.... (no offense, ladies!) The optimism after the election got it going and it's been on fire most of the year... the only time it slowed was for a few big showdowns (failure on healthcare deal, gov't shutdown, daca, etc.) or when the dems seem to score a win on something. (Ironic, huh?? Will you [philbo] give them any credit for that) So Yes, it's mainly Trump as the engine. Even with a few off days, we're light years ahead of where we were- and considering that it's been the entire establishment, maybe including the fbi, doj and others trying to drag him down, I'm inclined to cut him a break if I don't make $1000's EVERY week in the market. Even the Pope has an off day now and again.

I can say pretty certainly, if the election had gone the other way- the markets would NOT be where they are, and we'd all be scared to death about our retirement accounts.

I didn't vote for him because I liked his personality, I voted for him because I don't want to work until I'm 70.

This year has shown me that we need term limits in ALL parts of government... possibly even including the intel agencies.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Meanwhile it appears that Bil and Hil were the real crooks in the Russia deal and he's not looking there.
Why would he- sadly, that was never the goal or objective of the investigation. It was only ever about linking Trump's campaign (whether real or not) to Russia.
