Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry

I typically carry a Springfield XD Mod.2 45acp pistol. But if I go really low profile it may be a S&W Bodyguard .380 in a pocket holster. The XD .45 works nicely with a Alien Gear Holster too. http://i68.tinypic.com/68ublg.jpg Of course if I wear a baggy shirt I can carry a full size 1911 or 201...

Re: Texas Ancestry - Poll, please vote again. Changed.

I came here way back in 1983 from Arizona. So I have been here long enough to pick up a Texas accent. I had been talking to people in another state and they said "Your from Texas aren't you?" When I first moved here it seemed everyone had a Texas accent, eventually I couldn't hear it anymo...

Re: Poll: 3 Out of 5 Texans Choose Secession if Clinton is Elected

I've always read that its an impossible situation, where Texas would actually secede. If Hilary is elected, I say challenge accepted. Texit! Yes trying to secede would fail at present. The last time any state tried it was during the American Civil War, and you know how that turned out. But if in th...

Re: Beretta 92 that shoots when empty

yeah the slide would normally lock back when the gun is empty. But I have seen cases where a gun might not have the slide lock back though. Magazine or slide lock actuator has a problem. So it is plausible. Also if the cartridge has a defective primer it might not fire off. I do like double action g...

Re: Putting gun away in front of valet parking attendant

I would not have a problem with it. But I prefer to not let people see me putting a handgun into my lockbox though. I would have likely gone to another spot and put the gun up there and then come back. But if you do put your gun in a lockbox in front of the valet, make sure the key to the box is not...

Re: BLM vow to shut Houston down if ALL demands are not met!

The BLM leaders, as far as I can tell, are all ex-cons or criminals with a record already, sometimes a mile long criminal record. They are only in it to enrich themselves. Right now any shooting involving a black person is a instant event for them. The fact that the person shot was a thug or crimina...

Re: 22 LR think about it?

Well generally a person does not want to be shot with anything. But if shot, the .22 tends to cause a lot of odd damage inside the body. Even the solid bullets do damage. I know of quite a few cases where someone who was shot with a .22 rim fire, that didn't look bad, but had to stay in the hospital...

I wonder if they really return firearms to their owners. I bet they don't, they just keep them to destroy later.

Re: Legally worth it?

I figure if I have to go to jail for defending my family or myself, then so be it. But considering how much a defense attorney can cost it was worth the small monthly fee to have a little extra insurance for it though. I asked a attorney one time how much it would cost for him to defend me in a shoo...

Re: Why No Rimmed Cartridges in Modern Semi-Auto Rifles?

Well the Russians, British, Japanese, Siam and some others, all used rimmed cartridges in their rifles, machine guns, etc. But as already mentioned you have to be careful loading a magazine so that the rims don't overhang each other. If the round underneath has its rim in front of the top round, you...

Re: Different background checks for ARs vs handguns?

They do it electronically here now in Texas. So it is either the dealer got a bad vibe and cancelled the sale or there was a clerical error of some kind. Or the fellow has a problem that caused him to fail the background check. He might have a court order or something against him that wasn't there e...

I would go shoot them at the range the next time you go. The cartridges are likely still quite good and useable. Now on the off chance they don't work, then dispose of them.

Re: Introduce yourself

I have been involved with firearms since I was a young kid. I got my first gun, a Winchester .22 LR single shot bolt action, when I was about ten years old. I was in the USMC for about 8 years too. I also worked as a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Fort Worth for a number of years too. I live...

Re: Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey BANS Sale Of AR-15s

I can see the AG spending millions of taxpayer dollars defending these stupid decrees. But then Massachusetts and Connecticut have both been driving business away from their states. Pretty soon they will have no tax money coming in from the companies that left their states. Then the people will be r...

Re: Experiences with AK74 or AK SLR SBRs?

What happened is after Russia started their asymmetric warfare stuff and took part of the Ukraine. The US government then slapped the Russians with some import bans. The weapons were one such item that got banned. So Russian weapons and ammunition got stopped from being imported. So right now only t...
