Not arguing the point. But seems he was going to be in trouble regardless. Several Leo friends have said that closer than 21 feet it is impossible to draw before the BG is on you. Doesn't mean you should not try, but starting face to face you are at disadvantage.

Re: helpful deputy
I asked about the courtroom being in use, he said it is always a courtroom. Was not going to argue the point. Yes, I had a vault, it got cleaned out I'd the car, need to replace it. Showing vs telling. Agree limit unneeded hand movement. Situationally, how I did it caused no stress in either side. I...

So I went to an event my child was in. It had been moved to a courtroom in our county building, though nothing to do with court...I showed up a little late (after hours), and was alone at the entry desk. As I entered the front door there was a metal detector, and a sign saying no sharp objects, etc....

Re: Penal Code-Deadly Force on 06/07 Property
2. You're digging in the woodwork here. They will defend you only if you're carrying in a place where you can do so lawfully. They have no choice. If they would defend you if you carried past an 06 and shot somebody, people would just start ignoring 06's. This is based on a long discussion I had wi...

Re: Notify LEO You're Armed?
I know others may disagree, but I like the idea of a Terry Stop. For me it's a question of, how many felons have been jailed, and how many murders, rapes, etc., have been prevented, versus how many people got their feelings hurt? I would be one to disagree. I know life is not black and white and we...

Re: Leave your firearm at home during vacation?
I agree that portable safes are the way to go. I was around guns since before I can remember. Never had a safe in the house growing up. Just in drawers and corner of closets. But for my house and kids, I would never trust their maturity and instruction 100%. Kids can do dumb things thinking they 'kn...

Re: Licensed but don't carry? Why?
Most of where I go I can't carry. Drive company car at work, and take it home at night. Work is a weapons free zone... and if it was OK at the office, during the course of my job I visit locations where weapons are not allowed either. I spend the rest of my week primarily at school events, or church...

Re: Concealed carry by school employees
Utah can carry into schools, teachers can carry, and the school can't ask a teacher if they are carrying or not. They CANNOT leave it in their desk or whatever, basic safety practices or course. I don't recall hearing any issues that arise from it. " As a permit holder, exactly, where can I car...

this bill or similar is brought up every session. Has not passed yet. I'll worry about it once it is decided.

[/quote] Except if you're a cop (on or off duty), fed, or employee in your car on the parking lot...then you have the RIGHT to carry a handgun or weapon (respectively) on the property of someone who doesn't want you to. Or put another way they don't have the "right" to do anything about it...

Re: SB 288 - Motorcycle "lane splitting" bill
I have seen cars squeeze a gap to disallow a rider to go through, but in my years of lane sharing I never saw a car door open, or even threaten it. My bike had louder than stock pipes, and even then most cars did not know I was there until passing their front tire. The flip side of that is since the...

Re: SB 288 - Motorcycle "lane splitting" bill
There have never been any laws regulating top speed or differential speed in CA for lane splitting. The CHP used to have guidelines posted on their site but have since taken them down. As we all know from pirates, guidelines are not enforceable while code is...

relating to the gun, probably your wisest choice.

Re: SB 288 - Motorcycle "lane splitting" bill
Don't see enough motorcycles on the road in Texas to buy the traffic argument. But more people would leave their car at home and dust off the motorcycle that had previously been left in the garage. Also, more existing riders would be willing & able to wear more protective gear in summer w/o con...
