Re: Any old rifle experts around?

Looks like y'all might be right on. I've got this site bookmarked now for when I cross paths with old "house brand" guns, and it says you've got a Mossy 321. Well, maybe: http://proofhouse.com/cm/house_brand.htm Here's a schematic from Numrich of the Mossy 321B. Does it help you? http://w...

Re: A bad situation that thankfully didnt turn worse

You are authorized to use deadly force to prevent a suicide attempt. Ironic, isn't it? I've never understood this one. There might be a reason you don't understand it. The law reads (Texas Penal Code Subsection 9.34 (a) "A person is justified in using force, but not deadly force, against anoth...

Any old rifle experts around?

I have an old bolt action single shot .22 rifle that I've had "forever". It's been stored in the garage, in a gun sock for years. I'm thinking about cleaning it and using it for target practice. It's a Western Auto Revelation Model 100A and shoots .22 short, long and long rifle. It might b...

If you carry a "big" gun, how do you do it?

I've got a chance top pickup a Sig P226 (9mm) fairly cheap, but after reading a lot of about carrying and "printing" and comfort, I wonder it the gun is too big to conceal? I may get it anyway, because it never hurts to have more than one, but I'm concerned I may not be able to carry it co...

Re: Proper handgun maintenance

After reading all the replies, I have a followup question. What do you mean by cleaning? Are you referring to field stripping and thoroughly cleaning the barrel, slide, receiver and spring? Or running a snake through the barrel and lubricating the gun without field stripping it? Or something else? A...

Proper handgun maintenance

I have a chance to pick up a Sig P226 for a very reasonable price. This would be my first handgun. I'm interested in hearing opinions about proper handgun maintenance. Is there a rule of thumb for gun cleaning? X number of rounds? Y number of weeks? After every trip to the range? I've been watching ...

Re: Confused by all the acronyms

Thanks guys....really. I always tell people who ask, since I was knee-high to a grasshopper all I ever wanted to do was join the Navy and see the world. I spent six years in the Navy and never set foot on a ship. All my duty was shore-based signals intelligence work on the east coast. I never even l...

Re: Confused by all the acronyms

Wow, USA1, that was a lot more than I asked for. Thanks for the info.

As for thanking me for my service, I never felt I did anything worth being thanked for. I felt it was my duty to serve, and I did. Others gave a lot more than I including my cousin, Donald, whose name is on the Wall.

Confused by all the acronyms

I'm a newbie (just joined) trying to learn the ropes. When I was in the Navy I earned my marksman medal with a long gun but couldn't shoot worth a hoot with a .45. I hunted with a Wingmaster 870 and an old .22 bolt action single shot rifle for a long time when I was younger. (I still have the .22, b...
