Re: Two new toys!
Nice guns! Is it just me, or does it appear Ruger has made the Mini-14 barrel heavier ? Looking at the 2 pictures, series 81 verses the new one, they appear different thicknesses. I used to have a one in the early 90's, never could get it to shoot decent, reliable as all get out though. I'd love to ...

Re: Good ammo in .308 for deer hunting
The Ruger American is a great gun for the money, and the .308 is about the best all around cartridge. As for ammo, I have found that just about any softpoint from 150 grains and up will put down Texas Deer no problem. I've handloaded for years so I can't really speak for loaded ammo other than to co...

I have 2 of them and think they are great. Never had any problems at all with them.

PSA freedom upper review
The price drops of recent on AR stuff finally bit me. Bought a Freedom upper with a 16" barrel for $179.00 not expecting much. Fit and finish looked good, put a Fail Zero BCG in it and headed out for a test fire. It was consistently shooting just under 1" at 50 yards with M855, which I was...

Re: Bolt Carrier Group can't decide.
In the last 3 builds I did I used Fail 0's, I shoot almost exclusively suppressed and they clean up way easier than standard BCG's . I just ordered 2 more for a couple new builds I am doing, they were 129.00 from the manufacturer.

Re: Should I wait to renew after new fees go into effect?
Based on the mathematical calculation I just did with 6 of my fingers, you would be cutting it very close, and that's assuming they only take 30 days to turn it around. I would just pay the current amount.

Re: Transfers from California
Sorry to hear of your Brother in Laws passing, my regards. If my father passes before me, I will drive to California, load up all his guns, and drive back to Texas with them. Not legal advice i'm sure, but that's how i'm going to do it. Parabelum is correct though, pretty sure the law says they go t...

Re: London Bridge: Another terror attack
Just read that the first officer to respond to the attack was armed only with a baton, and was seriously injured. I'm going to assume it was not that officers choice to only be armed with a baton, but rather the policy of the department he/she reported to. Amazing stupidity. Prayers for that heroic ...

Re: 7.62x39 AR
I was in your shoes a couple years ago. Basically, all the posts online about feed ramp issues and gas ports being too small scared me away. I built a .300 BO and started reloading for it. If you are a reloader you can buy pulled surplus 147 grain .30 cal bullets and reload pretty cheap. That being ...

Re: Wood AK furniture re-finish help
I've done one once, a M14 stock, basically the same as WTR said, but I used Linseed oil and put it on as hot as I could stand. I think I did it multiple times, it really brings out the color and grain of the wood. I've since sold the gun or I would post a picture.

OWB, wear long T shirts and no one ever notices. Its much more comfortable. People are a lot more oblivious to their surroundings than we are.

Re: Earth Day Demonstrations?
I hate to get in on this, but here we go... my biggest beef with the global warming people is that they indoctrinate others (kids especially ) into thinking that global warming is a bad thing for mankind. Periods of global warming have never been bad for mankind, they have always been beneficial, gl...
