Re: Now this is customer service

Just like grocery stores, CTD has a few things at a good price to get you there, but gouges on others. I went in once and saw a very decent price on a CZ handgun I was interested in (but didn't buy), and .22 ammo for $60 (100 rounds). WOW.

They have a high tolerance for shame. :mad5

Re: Learned my lesson about "one in the pipe" today

Which leads me to another question, am I carrying enough gun? I can shoot the heck out of the p238, but I am limited by caliber and round count. I would love to carry my .357 Magnum (6 inch barrel), but no chance of that. But really, despite what you may hear, a .380 at 6 feet, with good shot place...

Re: Keep Both Eyes Open When Shooting

Peripheral vision means being able to "see" something (be aware of it) without actually focusing your vision on it. The concept of focusing on the front sight means to focus your vision on the front sight while "seeing" (being aware of) the rear sight in the proper alignment. Cho...

Re: "Gunned Down: The Power of the NRA" New Frontline

The media will take every opportunity to slam guns, but will try to look unbiased as they do it. Many of them actually think they are unbiased; they just don't see why anyone but the govt needs a gun.

Re: Changing demographics and voting....

While it is no doubt true that carpet-baggers moving to Texas will have some influence on voting demographics, another factor, perhaps bigger, is the educational system. The schools in Texas are better than most other places, but they are still turning out reams of young adults who are clueless abou...

Re: Just thought I'd share something . . .

Good job. I have been able to reach someone on the phone, but emails have never been answered. :confused5 FWIW, I have a friend who is a private investigator. RSD also handles support for them. He told me last week that their support has become impossible because most of the staff has been transferr...

Minnesota CHL

I had a student in a CHL class Saturday who previously lived in Minnesota, and had a CHL there. During the break, he told me the classes there were quite different from ours. I asked if it was shorter. He said, no, they don't spend time telling you about the law, where you can carry, or when shootin...

Re: LEO taking CHL class

What department does he work for?
Allen PD. He told his wife he could only carry his duty weapon concealed, and wants to be able to carry anything. I'm thinking it is a dept policy.

LEO taking CHL class

I haven't had a LEO in my class before. I thought they were exempt from the proficiency. One signed up recently, so I called Austin to verify that, and was told they were exempt from all of the class. Fine. I contacted the LEO, and was told that he was only allowed to carry his duty weapon concealed...

Residency for current CHL holder

I think I know the answer to this, but thought I would ask.

Someone wrote me; he has a current CHL from Tennessee and just moved to Texas. Wondering if the 6 month residency requirement still applies to him.

Thanks.

Re: Restaurants and 51%..... ?

However, it is possible for a restaurant to have a bar inside with a lot of walk-in business. If the bar is under separate ownership, IT may be marked 51%, and not the restaurant. If same ownership, and the bar does a lot more business than the restaurant, then that could push the alcohol revenue ov...

Re: NRA Recertification Future Requirements

I schedule a First Steps class every month or two. That gives me documented activity, and provides some potential clients for a CHL class later. The purpose of NRA Instructors is to represent the NRA, and by extension, the 2A, to the public. I don't mind doing that. Anyone that does, should not do i...

Instructor revenue sharing

It might not be appropriate to post responses to this question publicly, but as a new instructor, I would appreciate hearing from some veterans what the typical arrangements are when one instructor asks another to assist with a class (i.e., teaching one module, or helping with the proficiency). Flat...
