Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

I wish he'd sign it. Most folks say he will, but from where I stand I can’t tell. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/04/27/texas-guns-carry-without-license/ https://www.khou.com/article/news/verify/verify-abbott-to-sign-constitutional-carry-into-law/285-dd695098-83c2-491e-a3f2-8a6719c0e6af/ https://...

Re: Constitutional Carry Guide

All of this talk about entering a business that posts 30.06/07 but not 30.05 reminds me of discussions after the passing of open carry. Remember all the talk about being able to enter OC when 30.06 was posted but not 30.07? How did that pan out? And per the handout from [Prepaid legal service], the...

Re: ATF Released New Proposed Pistol Brace Rules

This is some weapons grade stupidity here. Okay... so this is a two part test. If you score a 4 or higher on either step then boom you have an SBR and are a felon! You have to add up the points for each and every category that fits your weapon. eg if you have a split type stabilizer and it folds th...

Re: Constitutional Carry Guide

I just got this guide from [Pre-paid legal service]. I still have questions. https://cdn.brandfolder.io/5Z10RK5F/at/3grj768k34x5pqmmvhpc85c/TXCC-Guide-Single-Pg-Digital.pdf There is no mention if the "Unlicensed Possession" blue sign will still be posted at all businesses that sell alcoho...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

It’s Friday the 28th. What happens if the Governor doesn’t sign by Monday. It's my understanding that if the Governor doesn't VETO, it becomes law on 01 SEP 2021. Just the same. I don't understand why he has not signed it yet. Is it some kind of political game? Let it pass and then claim he didn't ...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

It’s Friday the 28th. What happens if the Governor doesn’t sign by Monday. From "The Legislative Process in Texas" On receiving an enrolled bill, the governor has the option to sign it, veto it, or allow it to become law without a signature. The governor has 10 days in which to act unless...

Re: HB 1927 (Unlicensed Carry) Signs

The verbiage and signage requirements added in Section 30.05(c) are not required in order to prohibit unlicensed carry of firearms; a simple "No Firearms Allowed" sign will suffice. "Notice" under Section 30.05 can be as simple as "written communication" (with no furth...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

There has been some discussion as to whether 30.06 and 30.07 signs will be effective as to an LTC, after Sept. 1, 2021. The issue seems to be focused on the fact that an LTC will not be required to carry a handgun in Texas, thus they will not be carrying “under the authority of” their LTC. While so...

Re: Woman shot by off-duty officer

A 17-year law enforcement veteran turned Texas A&M Central Texas professor, Dr. Tammy Bracewell explained that there are numerous circumstances when off-duty officers are safer just to call someone that’s on the clock. ”In most cases, it really is those times when a life is in danger when you s...

Re: Permitless Carry in Texas

I still would like to know what the amendments are. Will everyone who OC be stopped and ask for ID? IIRC, the amendment to .07 regarded being stopped and asked for an LTC, not an ID. If you are thinking of the Dutton amendment to the open carry law when 84R HB 910 was being discussed, you are corre...

Re: Permitless Carry in Texas

I hope the LTC never go away. There are too many States we go to that I would not be able to carry without a LTC. It is going to be interesting to see how many legal signs go up for a while to keep firearms out of business’. When open carried passed we seen a lot of 30.06 signs along with 30.07 go ...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

My understanding for 46.03 places is that there is no change for LTC holders. This is correct. Prior to HB 1927 becoming law 46.03 locations were off limits by statute to license holders. No 30.06/7 signs or oral notice were required for them to be off limits. They have to post a 30.06/07 sign, or ...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

I believe there is also a 46.03 sign required for particular premises (hospitals, amusement parks, etc.) along with 30.06/7 to bare unlicensed and licensed carry. People can still be charged if they go to a 46.03 location. Per my reading (IANAL, this is not legal advice) there are exceptions that: ...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

My read on it is if you want to exclude non-LTC carriers, you post a 30.05. If you want to exclude LTC you post 30.05 and 30.06/7. If you just post 30.06/7, then a LTC holder can carry because they are not carrying under the authority of their LTC. Similar to a Peace Officer (who happens to also ha...
