Re: What now?

30.05, 30.06, 30.07 is alot of unsightly signage, it'll take up alot of window space and I don't think there will be alot of these put up! My Opinion If people want to cover their bases and aren't afraid of a personal warning all they would need is to post 30.05/6 (30.05 is about half the size of 3...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

I am curious, what makes anyone think that Governor Abbott wouldn't sign the HB 1927? I think he's just waiting to get the press conference together with the folks responsible to be in pictures. Don't be surprised if it takes a while. The 84th legislative session ended on 6/1. The Open Carry and Ca...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

Okay, for those in the know on these matters, it says that having an LTC is a "defense to prosecution" for violating 30.05. It's NOT an exemption from, then. It doesn't stop the police from arresting you nor does it stop a prosecutor from bringing a case against you. It only means that IF...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

If you have an interest in seeing the floor deliberations/discussion surrounding the adoption of the Conference Committee version of HB 1927, I've linked them below: House - Starts at the 1:09:52 mark. Run-time: 44:48 https://tlchouse.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=47&clip_id=20889 1:09:52...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

Just like churches, it was legal to carry in open meetings before....as long as did not receive notice under 30.06/30.07. This was one of the few exceptions carved out with SB 273 (fines for signs) from the 84th legislature. Maybe I'm mis-reading it, but it sounds like the signs might hold no more ...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

I've heard no one mention LOSING the ability to purchase a firearm using their TX LTC to bypass the NICS background check. So with passage of constitutional carry and the elimination of the LTC system we are now subject to mandatory NICS background checks on new purchases. What is there to stop CUJ...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

Thanks for this Papa_Tiger. :tiphat: I would add one item.... Under 46.035 there is a defense to prosecution for Volunteer emergency services personnel who are actively engaged in an emergency activity. https://codes.findlaw.com/tx/penal-code/penal-sect-46-035.html (m) It is a defense to prosecutio...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

Jeezaloo.... starting to sound like I could carry in more places if I canceled my LTC and just carried under 30.05. I don't think so. The off-limits locations for LTC holders are pretty much exactly the same as they were before (we gain government meetings covered by the open meetings act). You onl...

Re: HB 1927 (Unlicensed Carry) Signs

Under TPC 46.03 you said: Where can it be posted: On a property in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public - applies to the whole property, not just a premises (building or portion of a building) Are you sure that the prohibition applies to the "entire property" for all listed ...

HB 1927 (Unlicensed Carry) Signs

I posted this in the Senate Discussion thread, but thought it might be better to have discussion about this topic in a separate threat. Based on my analysis of HB1927, the following Gun Signs will have force of law once it goes into effect: 30.05 Sign Description: Includes language that is identical...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

Gun Signs with force of law under HB 1927: 30.05 Sign Description: Includes language that is identical to or substantially similar to the following: "Pursuant to Section 30. 05, Penal Code (criminal trespass), a person may not enter this property with a firearm" In both English and Spanish...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

Does this bill really change anything in regards to those who have their LTC? Or will that remain business as usual? Based on my analysis, we can no longer be prevented from carrying in government meetings covered by the open meetings act and we get the "belt and shoulder" restriction rem...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

This may have been asked but I can't find it. What happens to LTC ? Is it going away? Whats going to happen at gun purchases with background checks for people that have a LTC, is it going to be the wait again to buy? This bill does nothing to the LTC program. It will be exactly the same (cost, requ...

Re: HB 1927 on the Senate floor now

Sections 46.03(a) (7), (11), and (13) do not apply to license holders, and (7) is the prohibition against carrying in a 51% establishment. Does that mean that 51% bars will be removed from the list of off-limits places? No. If they properly post 30.06/7 or the 51% sign it is still an off-limits loc...
