Re: Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

That was tons of fun! Looking forward to the next one! Great meeting everybody, especially Vol Texan! He's my first texas3006 volunteer I've met in person! Russell, it was great to meet you as well. I was surprised to learn that you'd never met anyone else on your team - not the app developers, or any other mods. It's pretty cool what you've pulled off on the http://www.texas3006.com site with a geographically distributed, 100% volunteer team. So, as a recap of all the folks who joined us so far... First breakfast: Take Down Sicko (the person in real life is pretty cool, irrespective of the scary image the username brings up :coolgleamA: ) eyet Cool play on words in coming up with your username :cheers2: ) ktfiend (If I recall correctly, she had just received her LTC two days earlier, and was already comfortable carrying. :anamatedbanana ) Mr. ktfiend (who had not yet received his LTC, but should soon) and me... My thoughts after the first one: Great folks Different demographics from the South Quadrant Breakfast (y'all boys in Pearland need to step up your game - we've got both guys & girls for this one!) Great food (didn't know that Rudy's even had a breakfast taco) I'm looking forward to the next time. Second breakfast Take Down Sicko eyet ktfiend Mr. ktfiend (who now has his LTC :anamatedbanana ) Three other friends of Mr. & Mrs. ktfiend from their regularly scheduled earlier-in-the-morning Saturday breakfast - and one of them has an LTC :thumbs2: ) jrangel (My favorite LGS owner  - and friend of mine for several years) sbrawley (A LEO with the Harris County SD :tiphat: - and the only forum member (other than me) who is verified to have visited my wife's jewelry store) russell (The man, the myth, the legend: creator of the http://www.Texas3006.com site - and the first open carrier I've seen since the OC law came into effect :txflag: ) Mrs. Russell (Who joined us late, but fit well into the group :clapping: ) and me... My thoughts after the first one: Great folks (again) Y'all boys in Pearland need to step up your game even more - we now have TWO ladies in the group I think this monthly breakfast has grown roots. It's out of the pilot stage, and I have the feeling it'll be self-sustaining now. Saturday works well for us - Friday mornings (like the SQB does) would be difficult to do because of work It'll be cool if any of our friends from the South Quandrant Breakfast can join us occasionally I'm looking forward to the next time....

Re: Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

Sorry to have not responded earlier. I have been going full speed since I left Rudy's yesterday morning... Thanks to all who came yesterday. Food was great, and the company was even better. I think we all had a good time meeting some like-minded individuals. :fire As ktfiend mentioned above, we decided to shoot for the third Saturday of each month going forward - our next breakfast will be 18 March at 8:30 am at Rudy's on I-10 in Katy. I hope to meet even more folks then. Until next month.....

Re: Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

Just curious but how do we find each other? I'll be in my standard South Quadrant Breakfast attire: Texas3006.com tshirt, and wearing a UT hat. The real UT, of course - in Knoxville...

Re: Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

I'm in, depending on details. Would really prefer something on I10. There's a great little place in Old Katy that we eat at every Saturday. Snappy's on 90 in the same strip center as Cane Island Outfitters. We love the place, but that may too far West for others. I agree that Kelly's is awesome.... Well, the original one on Belfort anyway, until daddy Kelly passed. His kids have short cutted and cheapened the food considerably. I typically avoid all of the locations now. It's just a major disappointment after growing up in the original place as a child. Rudy's is on I10. Hope you can make it...

Re: Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

OK, everyone... I'm the one who stirred up this dust storm, and I've not done anything with it. Unfortunately, I had a few overseas trips, and was not able to follow through in a timely manner. So let's try to kick this off again. Syntr & Charles are right - Kelly's in Meadows Place would be a great option, but if we really want to make this a 'west Houston' thing, we shouldn't isolate those north of I-10 so much (although my office is in Sugar Land, so that is a great location for me). Instead of shifting south, I'll shift the focus of this a little west. Let's shoot for Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q at 21799 Katy Fwy, Katy, TX 77450. Rudy's doesn't have the down home charm of Kelly's, but they do have some tasty breakfast options (as mentioned by Lumberjack98 above). If we planned something for this Saturday morning, 25 Feb, would that be too soon? We could plan to meet at 8:30 am, and I don't think it'll be too busy. Let me know if you're able to join in, so we can get an early headcount estimate...

Re: Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

I like the weekend idea also, because taking a morning off work, even Fridays, is a challenge. Maybe we can set up a Saturday morning breakfast... Recommendations for a suitable location...

Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

Given the lasting success of the Houston South Quadrant Breakfast , and the good fellowship we've had during those, is there any interest in starting one on the west side of town...
