New Gun Range in Hockley/Tomball

#1

Post by NAVY CHIEF »

I found a new shooting range in the Tomball/Hockley area. "Shooting Sports & Training Center of Texas" - Owner is Joe Daigle, former LEO and NRA Instructor. I have only (sadly) been there once, but I hooked up one of my friends, who has been there numerous times. Joe is a great, down to earth kinda fella! :thumbs2: Prices are good, sells guns and ammo too. :clapping: Visit him and let him know that I sent you.

Now I will probably have to fight tooth and nail to get in! :???:

I saw an ad on Craig's List. I haven't visited (yet); they charge $15 for range use.

Within easy distance of my home, so I was interested and curious right up until I read the range rules.

"9. Collection of spent cartridges is not allowed in this range."

That seals the deal for me. No thanks.

Hmmm...
Only six lanes. Tiny. And the staff hangs the targets after someone shoots? So everybody gets what appears to be a shortened B27 target? Hope they're not using those for CHL testing.

If you're shooting a revolver, do you HAVE to dump the brass?

I got a chuckle out of rule #1 "1. ALWAYS - Keep firearms pointed in a safe direction (usually downrange)." Soooo... in unusual situations, there might be another safe direction?
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."

I might go and check it out, but its unlikely I would be a regular where I can't pick up my brass. I'm sick of going to Hot Springs just to put 300rds at 1 target or waiting around for an hour plus for them to change the targets. I reload lead so I don't really like going down to Shiloh.
