May has been designated NRA Mentor Initiative month. The NRA, with support from the firearm industry, has designed a initiative with a very simple objective; we are calling on each of our 5-million-and-growing NRA members—and everyone else in the firearm community—to find someone who has never fired a firearm before, take them to the range and help them put their first rounds on target.
Become a mentor.

To help you get started as a mentor, I encourage you to visit https://nramentorsweepstakes.com/ to download a free copy of the NRA’s “A Guide for New Shooters.”

The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

Proud to report that I consider it my civic duty to provide one hour of free one-on-one instruction for anyone who has little to no handgun experience - all inclusive, no strings. Well over 1,000 people have taken me up on this offer.

How do you go about doing this? FB? Craigslist?

Just curious how it doesn't attract BG's or nutjobs that want to steal a gun or murder you...

Seems like a possibility given enough time.

I provide an armed presence on sundays for a small church in granbury, today I met the preacher at a gun range and we went over gun 101, self defense 101, and did some shooting, overall was a good time!
Doing my part in the mentoring dept.

Great question. Every single one was friend, family, neighbor, colleague, or highly regarded reference from each of those camps. They were not and are not complete strangers or random folk. The exception - probably less than 100 - were people at the range that were obviously first timers renting and struggling at ranges with no instructor on staff to assist.

I'm working on getting my family members armed and trained. I've paid for LTC and training for my father, youngest brother, and 21 year old son. I have three more children that are not yet old enough to get their LTC, but they are being trained.
