Tip to career criminals who have not taken a formal Sanford Binet IQ test: 1) Do not attempt to rob gun ranges. 2) Do not attempt to rob gun stores. 3) Do not attempt to rob people who are open-carrying a firearm. 4) Do not attempt to rob anyone who looks like they might be carrying a concealed firearm. 5) This is Texas. Assume most everyone is carrying a firearm. 6) Pack up and move to New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Washington DC...you'll probably live longer.

I stopped by Carter’s Country, where this occurred to spend a little money there as a way of showing support.

Sketchy neighborhood around the store, but right near the freeway so you don’t have to get up close and personal.

What was very impressive was the Normandy style defenses against after hours drive in robberies.

See the photo I took.

America is a different country than the one I remember as a child.

Makes a lot of sense, though that's the first time I've that sort of buttressing at a gun store. But then, I haven't gone to a gun store in a while...

There are good reasons for those defenses:

Their ammunition seemed a little less than Collectors Firearms.

I just assumed they had a roll down shutter behind the glass, I guess not.

I have never shopped at Collectors Firearms, but I buy my hunting ammunition from Carter's. Their prices are aligned with Academy who never has what I need and also with many online vendors who add shipping. I hunt with Federal Premium Sierra Boat Tail ammo in .270 and .308 and also for my old backup Model 70 .243. I haven't priced the other rifle ammo nor the pistol calibers.
