Home Depot Shooting - Flower MOund

This one is very intriguing on several levels

https://www.crosstimbersgazette.com/202 ... ome-depot/

If the newspaper has the facts straight it was a 16yo carrying a pistol concealed while working at Home Depot. Further, the 16yo fired at a fleeing vehicle. The "investigation is ongoing" without any sort of arrest suggests that there is more to the story. The local rumors say that it was an attempted kidnapping but that doesn't make sense to me in light of the story details.

So we have Constitutional Carry but it doesn't extend to 16yos as I understand it.

My dot connector suggests that at least one of the boys knew the guys in the truck.

16-year-old carrying a firearm. Very bad Juju. The kid probably violated company policy and the law.

The story in Cross Timbers Gazette was lifted almost verbatim from Flower Mound PD Facebook page. I haven't been able to locate any other news sources reporting on this incident. Constitutional Carry has nothing to do with a 16yr old illegally carrying a firearm either on or off the job.

There's definitely more to the story, doubt it will get any attention from the medial due to the non-narrative players.

Handguns

As of 2021, people who qualify under the law can carry a handgun in a public place in Texas without a license to carry (LTC). Texans can still apply for an LTC since it may carry additional benefits. See our License to Carry page for more info.

Sections 46.02 and 46.04 of the Texas Penal Code describe unlawful carry and possession of a firearm. Generally, to carry a handgun in public in Texas without an LTC, a person must:

Be at least 21 years old (Note: a recent court decision may affect the age restriction)
Not have a prior felony conviction as described in Section 46.04
Not have a recent conviction for certain types of misdemeanors as described in Sections 46.02 and 46.04
Not be subject to an unexpired protective order as described in Section 46.04(c)
Not be restricted from possessing a firearm under federal law as described in 18 United States Code Section 922(g)
Not be intoxicated, except in certain situations as described in Section 46.02(a-6)

The story seems to have been updated.
In an update shared on social media on Thursday, FMPD said investigators have learned that the incident began when two Home Depot employees, a 16-year-old male and 17-year-old male, were reportedly approached by two men in a truck, asking for help. Then at some point, one of the men hit the 17-year-old employee with an unknown object in the back of the head.
Then the 16y old pulled his gun ...

No mention of whether or not they've arrested the 16y old for illegal possession yet. You'd think since they were both known to be employees that he would be easy to identify.

Why not? I worked there for a couple of years and they hired kids to work the lots pulling in carts, loading things into vehicles, etc.

And they seem to work in pairs.
