Suspect found with a plastic gun in inner campus 2 parking lot

Stray bullet brings up safety issues

UTEP President Diana Natalicio addressed the safety concerns at the university Monday after a stray bullet, believed to have come from a shootout that occurred Saturday in Juárez, hit a campus building.
"We felt it was important to alert the campus community to the fact that the incident had happened," Natalicio said. "We thought it was important to let them know that we were doing everything possible to insure their safety and security on the campus."

According to UTEP Police Chief Cliff Walsh, UTEP has a system to respond to an eventual emergency like that. He said there are alert notification tests that are conducted every first Friday of every month. There are also several speakers throughout campus that can be heard if a state of emergency actually occurred.

"an eventual emergency ? so, it's expected eventually? Foreseeable, knew or should have known admission.

Another form of notification is through e-mail

I'm sure I'll be getting laid off again soon, so it'll be back to school for me. Major university in North Texas. No CC in buildings, security suspect at best in parking lots, AND no smoking on campus (unless in your own vehicle) as of April of 2011. I can hardly wait........... :totap: :banghead: :mad5 :cryin :grumble :waiting:
