Young son is shot and killed as he tried to shield his mother during a robbery of a Subway restaurant.

Near as I can tell crime is out of control here in Houston, every day it is new horrific robberies and or murders in my city. Usually with guns and with the usual suspects holding them.

Progressive Democrat controlled cities are becoming places that normal law abiding people have no place in being.

You have convinced me that there is nothing in Houston that would require my presence there. Sounds like Houston is becoming the Chicago of Texas.

And no one in custody for any of these crimes? Frightening.

Near as I can tell this is what happened: 9:00 pm in Stafford. Husband wife and two kids leave Walmart and are involved in a minor fender bender. Other car leaves the scene. Husband apparently follows the car to try maybe to get a license plate number. Car they are following pulls into a parking lot. They follow into the parking lot and stop. Man in the hit and run car gets out and fires at the husband and wife and two kids in the car, killing the wife. A third car was apparently involved. The hit and run car was apparently car jacked earlier.

RIP. Not at 1:00 in the morning. Not in Gunspoint. Could have been anyone.

There are some no win situations. This sounds like one of them.

When I was a motorcycle rider, one of the rules of safety was always assuming the worst. If you see somebody waiting at a stop sign, you assume he WILL pull out in front of you. Some of these situations are the same. If you get out of your car to confront somebody, you assume he WILL have a weapon and try to use it. That guy made a BIG mistake following that car into the parking lot, if he already had a license number.

There are some really, really bad people out there. These incidents remind me of some carjackers in, I believe, Temple or Waco. They spotted a single girl driving to work, pulled up behind her at a stop light, and bumped her rear end "accidentally." When she, of course, got out and walked around to look, they grabbed her. They found her corpse some days later.

Not to be morbid at a victim's expense, but it's always somewhat beneficial to put yourself in these scenarios and consider what you would have done.
