You've arms....why aren't you taking care of your neighborhood?

Are you the type of guy who wants government to do everything? :-)

The whole premise for the reduction in crime is to shut down a convince store under civil forfeiture due to the facilitation of crime. Have the people in charge ever thought that maybe the store owner is too afraid to tell the hoodlums to leave or maybe the illegal activity takes place after the store is closed? Maybe Dallas should hire more police officers. I heard they are 800 or so officers short from being correctly staffed. How about Dallas gets rid of the free bicycles and hire some cops. Are the leaders trying to become the cess pool that is San Francisco? Seems to me that the convience store is being used as a scape goat for poor city leadership.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Perhaps Dallas's long history of Democratic mayors and city council would be leading factor to this issue!

My CDO * is driving my fingers here....

Maybe the store should be left open and staffed by (undercover) cops/feds. upgrade store and area video surveillance. start making arrests/building cases. Of course that all takes resources. Having a lawyer already on staff shut down a business owner; hey, that's already been paid for, so let's start there........ :evil2:

As Jeff Cooper observed, "evil is not overcome by fleeing from it". I don't think closing evil's favorite convenience store is going to put anybody in jail either. Perfidy will continue unabated, or at best, simply move down the road. I suspect that closing the store is solving the WRONG problem, or treating a symptom but not the disease.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought the police chief said that crime has gone DOWN not up. This can't be. Liberals don't lie!

What JustSomeOldGuy said.

It also sounds like a good reason for DPD to bring back the Shotgun Squads that were used to great effect in the 1960s and 1970s to stop crime in high crime areas and businesses. If this convenience store has all of this criminal activity surrounding the store, then there is probably a regular occurrence of armed robberies at that store also.

I am very confused as to how shutting down a Food Mart is going to eliminate criminals or criminal behavior. If the criminals are congregating at J's Food Mart it should make it easier to tract and identify them.

If I wanted to get criminals off the street, having a location like that would make my job easier. Conversely, scattering criminals makes them more difficult to find.

Remember the shotgun squads from the early 60s well. Took down a couple of thugs at a convenience store near my parent's house in Garland. Never had another robbery there that I know of.

I’m not nor have ever been a law enforcement officer but it seems to me that if you have a place where criminals are congregating it would make sense to surround the area and arrest them all. Have agreements with prosecutors and judges to not release them back onto the streets for awhile.
Or, since FBI is involved, have the HRT snipers just shoot them down. :biggrinjester:
