Scope for a Savage 64

#1

Post by Crash »

Recently bought a Savage Model 64 in .22LR. I need a scope for it, but since I only paid $253 for it, I don't want to spend a lot for a scope. Won't be doing any formal target shooting with it, just plinking and maybe a little small game hunting. Anybody know of a decent scope for no more than $100 - $125?

Would appreciate any recommendations.

Take a look at the Bushnell Banner 2 scopes. I picked up a 3-9x40 at atwoods for 89$ and it came with rings. It has held zero and actually has great light transmission. The 4-12 was just a few bucks more. It’s my new budget go to scope!

I own a couple cheap Bushnell scopes I have used for just this reason. I own an old JC Higgins .22 single shot bolt action rifle. You have to put a new round in the chamber by hand after each shot. It was one of the rifles my dad owned before losing his life in Nam. I think they sold them at Sears way back when. It is pretty accurate with my 4x Bushnell on it. I bet I didn't pay more than 60-75 dollars for the scope. I bet my dad didn't pay much more than that at Sears for the rifle. Killed many a squirrel with that rifle.

I was just replying concerning the exact same brand only mine is a straight 4X. Had it for many, many years and it works surprisingly well to this day.
