Generally speaking, I try to order whatever color of brown leather is available. In some cases, me being left-handed, the manufacturer in question offered the right handed version in brown, black, whatever, but the left-handed version in black only. So, I've ended up owning a couple of black holsters here and there. But no, I don't worry about it.

I do have a nice custom made holster with Ostrich trim that happens to match my Lucchese boots that have Ostrich trim and the same basic leather colors, but that is a happy accident, and neither match my belt. My primary belt (and since I've lost so much weight, currently my only belt) is a shade of tan. I own two other holsters that are similar in color to the belt, but again, that is a happy accident. I have nothing, belt or boots, that matches the cordovan color of a couple of my holsters.

So no, I don't worry about it. I buy good equipment, but it doesn't always match, and I don't care. I'm of an age where I'm allowed to have mismatched socks or forget to zip my fly, and people are just supposed to smile and think t's cute. Anyone who mentions it is just being nasty to the elderly. :evil2:

Also, and even though OC is not my primary carry habit, I figure that either (A) the person who sees my gun will be so agog or freaked out that they won't notice the sartorial faux pas, or (B) the person who sees my gun will be amused to see that grampy is packin'........ and hold the door open for me.

Its funny I should see this now. I ordered two sets of custom leather holsters and mag pouches recently (1 for my 1911, 1 for my Glock), and I got shipment notification. I ordered them both in black with brown accents so I could either wear them with black belt and boots or brown belt and boots without having to have different holsters.

With the newness of OC here in Texas, I think it is important that carriers who choose to OC dress and look respectable. For me, that means I won't OC without being clean shaven and at least decently dressed...boots, tucked in shirt, nice holster, etc. I think it conveys a better image of a responsible carrier than flip flops, cut-off shorts, a wife beater and a clipped on ,on size fits most nylon holster. Whether or not it reflects reality, people judge and are judged on appearance, and OC'ers are going to be under a microscope for a while.

Of course you'll never want to wear your white holster after Labor Day.

Ok all this talk about matching holsters and worried about a brown holster with black shoes. What about the gun. Do I need a stainless one to match my watch. One with brown wooden grips to match my brown shoes. Of course a black one too for the black shoes.

White holsters should only be used for guns that haven't been fired yet...

1) I think my sense of humor has contributed to creating a monster here.....
2) A white holster goes well with any chrome or nickel plated gun with mother of pearl or ivory grips. Of course, your belt and shoes should also be white.
3) I guess #2 means I'm not repentant about #1 :evil2:

For the ones with better fashion sense:

If my gun is black, my holster is saddle tan with black air brushed accents can I where this holster/gun combo with either a black or brown belt?

Do any of you who're sincerely interested in being gun fashion conscious wear a man-bun?

Get manicures/pedicures?

Are one of the few men you know who has has a degree in "Women Studies"?

Proud to know how to knit?

Constantly put lotion on your dry elbows and think the temperature wherever you go is set to low and need to wear a sweater even in the Texas summer?

Weeeeellll, my friend, go get that operation you've only dreamed of, hand in your man card and give your gun to your Mother who really understands you...
