E-mailed. Will likely try to call later today. If it cannot reach the floor until after "the second full day" what are the chances of it getting through?

Time is ticking and is definitely not on our side.

I was informed that the bill needs to be on the Intent calendar for 2 full days before any movement and since it was placed on the calendar yesterday, there would be no movement today either.
I called to the office also, and without prompting the woman answering said the same thing, two full days. I politely pointed out that the bill has been in the hands of the senate for some time now, and Lt Gov Patrick should move it ahead as soon as possible, and thanked her for passing the message on.

Please don't take this as an excuse to be rude or belligerent. I really dislike her telling you guys that it had to wait for the two days. While that may be true, it's been held up while they play politics for some time now.

Following email sent:
Sir,
I am requesting that you assist with movement on HB910. This bill has been openly supported by Gov. Abbott, yourself, and passing open carry legislation is one of the planks of the Republican platform. Time is running out on this bill which expands the freedoms of Texans without any negative side effects or cost. Texas CHL holders have an outstanding track record as law abiding citizens and have proven that they are responsible adults who should not have arbitrary rules regarding their chosen method of carry that do not enhance public safety.

Please, I urge you to act to advance this legislation.
Also called and got the two day song and dance. My response was:

"Maam, I am confused. I am reading the published rules regarding the intent calendar and it states 'may not be considered on the first day'. I can not find anything about a 2 day rule. Could you point me to where I could find that?"

Her statement was (paraphrased), I was informed that it is a two day rule regarding that bill, I really don't know where to look that up. I will forward your comments regarding the bill and the rules.

I thanked her for her help and ended the conversation.

The 2-day thing they are telling callers is WRONG.

Dates of Interest - 84th Legislature
Friday, May 22, 2015 (130th day)

Last day for house to consider local house bills on second and third reading
[House Rule 8, Sec. 13(a)]

First day senate can consider bills and resolutions the first day they are posted on the Senate Intent Calendar
[Senate Rule 5.14(b)]
When you call and email make sure to push back and say that according to Senate Rule 5.14(b) HB910 is eligible to considered on the Senate floor TODAY.

It doesn't sound right ....If anything they may not get to it today. A number of bills on the regular docket yesterday did not get attention ...
We will see.....
