IRL: Luck o' the Irish runs out for would-be thief

Normally I just post firearm-related self-defense stories, but this one is too good to pass up:
The scene unfolded on Moore Street in Dublin city when the would-be thief approached the American tourist and attempted to run off with his bag and cell phone.


Witnesses said the American, reportedly a “big man”, got a few digs in on the attempted thief before tying him to a nearby pole with camping rope. The American then phoned police as bystanders laughed at the man tied to the pole.
The Gardaí took the thief into custody, investigations continue. ... ng-attempt
