NC: Axe vs Shotgun

Police: North Carolina homeowner with gun confronts suspect with ax

Man use's homeowner's axe to try to break into home's backdoor. Homeowner takes his shotgun to confront man at door. Man remembers important meeting across town and leaves. Police catch up to him a couple blocks away. No shots fired.

"The Shining" would have been a shorter movie if Wendy would have had a shotgun when Jack axed the door!

In that battle, I will select shotgun.

However, I understand in close quarters an axe in the right hands is very effective.

Haha... I watched this movie about a month ago on cable. When it first came out I recall people thinking it was intense. It was pretty darned tamed by today's standard of intense. That movie is a classic.
