sb263 stuck in homeland security

I see sb263 is stuck in Homeland Security. I guess once again the change to caliber restriction for proficiency (down to .22 from .32) will die in committee.

Charles..any word?

It will only be dead if it isn't reported out of the House Committee by the end of the day, Saturday, May 20th.

Then it can also die in Calendars.

Then it can die on the floor...

Keep in mind, there was a minor "reset" of the committee calendars after Monday, May 8th. That was the last day to report bills originating in the House out of the House committee to which they were assigned. From the 9th on, pretty much all committee work in the House is on bills that originated in the Senate.

Currently, there are only 12 bills that the House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee can even really work on. Of the 197 bills that have entered the committee, only 70 have made it out, including 7 that originated in the Senate. The most recent 4 Senate bills voted out of committee were companions of House bills that had already been considered in and voted out of committee.

I got a movement alert on 263. Looks like it is reported favorably without amendments and report distributed. Wonder if we'll get a vote? Miracles can happen.

It looks like SB263 is fine now, along with three other bills.

I wonder how many AR 15 pistols instructors are going to be seeing.

Most "pistols only" ranges don't allow rifle calibers on the range, so probably not too many.

But I do guess that if the range didn't have a restriction, it would be "legal" to shoot the qualification using an AR pistol with arm brace while shouldered, as the penal code does not state how you have to hold the firearm.

I had to say now to a student that wanted to use an .223, I guess that has changed.
