While there are merits in the argument, it sounds like this is one of those places where you go for what you think will pass vs an ideal. I suspect this amendment would be a poison pill. Let's get constitutional carry passed. Then it can be improved where needed like CHL was.
I wish Cason would have pulled the amendment and worked with Schaefer.

Wants a felony, misdemeanor A or B, or domestic violence convictions to make it illegal to carry under CC.

Voted down 85 to 59.

More by Turner adding in convicted of alcohol related offenses be ineligible to carry.

Arguing that these criteria need to be in the bill because otherwise it would be legal for felons and mentally ill people to get weapons.

Schaefer arguing that existing law prevents felons and mentally ill from obtaining or having weapons.

Oh good lord...

You don’t have to be a background check or training to purchase an assault weapon that can kill many people in seconds.

Saying this bill removed the prohibition of carrying a weapon when Intoxicated. Adding it back in.
