HB 1407 Passed

#1

Post by jerry_r60 »

HB 1407 Just passed the Senate without amendment so it goes on to the Governor. This one is similar to SB 550 and I wasn't sure if SB 550 covered this but now it doesn't matter. This bill removes "Shoulder or Belt" from Holster specifically when in a visible handgun in a vehicle for an LTC.

Nice.

So open carry in a vehicle and does not need to be in a belt or shoulder holster... Any clarification if it can be off body.. I had trouble figuring that part out.

From the House Journal:

"REPRESENTATIVE SCHAEFER: This bill would allow a person who has a handgun license, when they’re inside their vehicle, to secure their weapon in a holster inside the vehicle. Current law requires you to have it on your belt or your shoulder. But when you get inside your vehicle and have to put your seat belt on,this would allow you to remove it and put it in a holster somewhere else inside your vehicle. And this is for handgun license holders."

I kept trying to scroll, but the bill was only a couple paragraphs long.

Why can't more bills (at the state and federal level) be this simple? It would make a lot more sense if you ask me.
