Underwent Counseling: Disclose on application?

#1

Post by nick77 »

About six or seven years ago, I underwent counseling for a couple of months about some personal issues I was going thru at the time. Also, in early 2010 I sought counseling thru a church regarding a prolonged period of unemployment.

The church counselor, I gathered, wasn't an actual licensed therapist, but a volunteer who had probably gone thru some informal training. I'm mostly concerned about the therapy sessions from 6-7 years ago.

I wasn't put on any medication and as far as I know, I wasn't diagnosed with any condition. I was wondering if I need to put this on my application, and whether it will show up when they check my medical history. The application only asks about drug or alcohol treatment, or treatment in a psychiatric hospital, and only in the last 5 years.

No. You don't have to report it.

I worry more about people who think they never needed counseling. ;-)

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your application.
