Was logging in from home after I got to move back after the flood and got a message that I am permanently banned from the site. Banned isp address. I sent a message but no response. Logged in with my phone today.

The members list doesn't indicate you are banned. Since you were able to log on with your phone I would guess that you are not actually banned by the forum. You might be on to something with the isp thing.

I got a similar message in my browser on my smartphone several years ago using a Starbucks WiFi acces point.

Most people access the Internet from a shared IP, and your phone is on a different network, unless you are on your home wifi. You will have to ask the Forum to specify why you were blocked, or unblock that IP.

This is not uncommon. Someone else on that network did something to get blocked, and you are collateral damage.

I had the same problem when accessing the site via a VPN while traveling.

Were you using a VPN when you had the problem?

This used to happen to me all the time. I traveled a lot internationally, and would regularly get banned if I logged in from the wrong location.

Hi Dan: Obviously, you have not been banned. We do not ban U.S. based IP addresses, but we do ban IP blocks from spamming countries like China, India, etc. On a very few occasions, we have banned a U.S. IP address when it was used by banned member rejoining under a different username and email address. Even then we do it only when there is strong evidence that the IP address being used is a static IP address.

Chas.

Dan,
I get that "banned" message every time I log in from International.

I was "permanently banned" (obviously not) using my VPN today with an ip address traceable to Denver CO.
