Daily Carry Knife

#1

Post by romeofox »

I'm thinking of a small project and am interested in any recommendations ya'll may have.
I want to custom cut some handles (Scaled Zebra Wood to match my Raptor) for a decent quality pocket "platform" carry knife preferably with an safety glass spike.
1. What Platforms are out there that could be customized like this?
2. If I go to all the trouble, will I be disappointed in the durability of the Zebra Wood on a knife?
I've lived a half a century with 2 very durable and heavy buck knives.

Thanks

If you like fixed blades ESEE knives are nice. I EDC the Izula in a kydex sheath and it is awesome. Mine doesn't have a pointy thing on the back. It is a little smaller than the ESEE-3 pictured here, which you could change the handle on.

These guys make some pretty cool knives that use 1911 grip panels.

Smokey,

The knife in your photo is gorgeous.

So much so, I'd hate to mar it's beauty with use.

If you would, (I looked at their website and couldn't find...) it's cost.

Thanks!

Various ones on amazon are in the $105 range.

I got my Izula at Cabelas which was a lot higher price than other places, but I used a gift card.

I wouldn't worry about using the knife- it can take an absolute beating.

Another vote for Izula.... They arrive looking like this... Then you can add whatever scales you like...

The Damascus might be nice with "zebra" scales..

CRKT various models for price point and good edge. Ka-Bar TDI for potential needs for self defense.

Be careful buying Esee knives on Amazon. According to the manufacturer, most of the knives on there are forgeries from China.
