My dad and I are still waiting on the tax stamp for our silencer. Submitted all the paperwork in April and still nothing. Anybody know about how long it typically takes?

The fastest I've gotten one was in 4 months. That was back when the ATF first got electronic applications up and running and there was no backlog. I cannot remember the details now, but that fast turnaround didn't last long. I think I got one after that in around 6 months, but that would have been another stroke of luck, because all the rest (I'm a "stamp collector") have taken 10 - 12 months on average.

Right now I have a couple of cans and an SBR still in jail since November and December 2015. One of my must trusted dealers quoted his supposedly knowledgeable sources who say that due to the huge backlog caused by the 41F rush, 14+ months may be the norm for awhile. I just try to forget about it so when one finally shows up, it's a pleasant surprise.

my first with a trust was 5 months for ATF to process and approve, nearly another month for store to be notified it was approved and could release. I have one more ordered and being processed since July, just before the rule change took affect. I expect that to be 6-8 months :grumble

Need to get suppressors off the NFA list

We're predicting waits of 9 ~ 12 months now.

Wouldn't surprise me.

Did you see the story where Silencer Co submitted 10k ($2 million in tax stamps) Form 4s last day before 41F went into effect? The run-up to the deadline was pretty hot and heavy.

Suppressors should be removed from NFA, but too many sheep think they're only used for assassinations. :???:

Good luck. I bought another suppressor the day before the new rules went into effect. The guy at The Silencer Shop told me that their ATF inside guy told them to expect a year to a year and a half because of the new rules change and the sudden burst of buying activity by people trying to get their orders in before the changes. That was in mid-June. So I'm not expecting approval before next June.
