TulAmmo .357 158gr FMJ Steel Case

Anybody shooting this ammo? Went to the range today with my Rossi 971, which I've never had a problem with. Fired maybe 30 rounds of .38 then loaded up these rounds. Pulled the trigger, bang. Tried to pull the trigger and couldn't. Cylinder wouldn't turn. Couldn't get the cylinder out at first, then could hardly get the casing out. Revolver was fully functional so tried another round, same thing.

It appears that when fired as the case pushes back against the frame the case also swells so much that it jams in the cylinder.

Anyone else have any experience with this ammo?

TulAmmo are cheap steel case Russian cartridges that I've been shooting in my AR's (.223) with no problems....so far. Anybody else?

I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem but I have been told you should clean the cylinder holes out after shooting.38 and before shooting .357 mags.

Matter of time. Glad you're enjoying that new AR. If you can afford it, I'd buy bulk brass-cased remanufactured ammo. The prices are competitive, and you will avoid the problems that so many have reported with steel-cased Russian ammo.

— BiteTheBullet.co: remanufactured, boxer-primed reloadable brass-cased, Hornady 55 grain copper-jacketed FMJ, $255.99/1000 rounds, 26¢/round. In my last shipment, almost all of the brass used was Lake City.

— Russian Wolf Military Classic: berdan-primed polymer-coated NON-reloadable steel cased, 55 grain bimetal FMJ bullet (lead core, with a copper-plated steel jacket), $224.90/1000, 23¢/round. Here's what you get for your 3¢/cartridge savings: you can't reload it, the bullets will wear out your barrel faster, and the cases are more likely to get stuck in the chamber.

— TulAmmo is available for 24¢/round, of similar construction to the Wolf Military Classic, having unreloadable berdan-primed steel-cases (with and without polymer coatings), and bimetal bullets. Like the Wolf ammo, the bullets will wear out your barrel faster, and the polymer coated versions are likely to get stuck in your chamber at some point.

FWIW, spend the extra 2¢-3¢ per round, and do your rifle a BIG favor. That's just my opinion, and YMMV.
