My J frame got new digs!

New Altamont grips transformed my 642-1. It feels super good in the hand and has plenty of grip. Very happy. I recommend Altamont to anybody. Took almost two weeks but well worth the wait.

Looks like the same wood grips that came on mine a few years ago. They are great!

How much bigger than the OEM grips?

TAM, not much bigger but you CAN get a 3rd finger on them. The grip feels really really nice in hand and even works in the pocket with them without a problem.

Actually, the slang use of "new digs" is a reference to a new place to live (e.g. 'I have a new apartment' etc.). Signed, your friendly word police... 😜

Those look great! Looks like great traction, wet or dry without hanging in your pocket, as rubber grips can.

I have to stop reading threads like this. Hard on my budget. Those do look good though.

About this big? https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/model-640

The reason I’m asking is that I also have one of the above Model 640 .357s, and that grip size makes the difference in whether or not the pistol is easily pocketable. The original “boot grip” that comes on the .340M&P or the 642 is small, but it is a deep cover size. The grip that’s on the 640 is still a small grip, but it is, like I said, enough larger that it is not as easily pocketable.

TAM I’m not 100% sure if you can tell completely but here is mine and my wife’s gun. Her grip is taller than mine. I can pocket carry mine easily if I try but your mileage may very
