Wow! That bulge on the shoulder is alarming. Did you give the chamber a good cleaning? Also, any ideas of what caused the bulge? It might be useful to examine the next couple of dozen ejected cases to see if there’s any incipient signs of any problemsBeiruty wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 9:41 amThis is why it did not chamber:kayt00 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 8:51 amBecause science, glad that worked out. Use science, a few sec of super chilled compressed "air in a can", sprayed on the case head, made the mission way easier. One bang and it just came out.

I used quite good amount of super slick stuff can. The idea was to disable the primer/powder. I still had to use the chilling air in a can.

I will keep an eye. The case was like that when chambered. Why it was like that, who knows. It is a factory ammo. I cleaned and polished the chamber. See the photos in my above post. The Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 2:09 pmWow! That bulge on the shoulder is alarming. Did you give the chamber a good cleaning? In some of the photos from before polishing it almost looked like the chamber might have a micro-crack in it. Was that a concern as well?Beiruty wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 3:15 pmI will keep an eye. Yes, I saw that. I am not certain if it was a crack or just kind of "hair" from the cleaning pad. After Polishing there was nothing. I will double check.

Re: Houston we got a problem... Live Rd jammed
hhhmmmm….so while it could have been a temporary surface feature, couldn't the polishing also have filled it in and possibly obscured it? I would want to check further, maybe dye penetrant or some other form of NDT? Cannot be too careful after an incident such as this one IMHO.Beiruty wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 4:04 pmhttps://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php ... 5&start=30Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 3:41 pmIn some of the photos from before polishing it almost looked like the chamber might have a micro-crack in it. I am late to the party - but the case bulge and the rim snapped off looks like you may overgassed and possibly underbuffered. The gas pressure starts moving the casing before it has had time to shrink after firing, sometimes causing the bolt to move and tear off a chunk of case rim. Maybe...

The case failed to chamber, the case rim was sheared when I was trying to get the bolt carrier out.couzin wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 8:34 pm I am late to the party - but the case bulge and the rim snapped off looks like you may overgassed and possibly underbuffered. A little water or oil down the barrel with a tight fitting dowel rod.
Several inches off liquid in thee barrel, insert the dowel and smack it sharply with a hammer.
The liquid won't compress but it will seek the path of least resistance creating a space between the round and the chamber and forcing it out.

Beiruty, I saw this earlier today, although I haven’t watched the whole thing. Has to do with head spacing issues in a Sig M400 due to heat buildup. It might be worth watching.
