Alpha Project Revolvers

Post by K-Texas »

It appears that Armscor (Rock Island Armory) is now the US Importer. Found out about this yesterday while perusing the Armscor site. The former importer had them priced comparable to Rugers, so we'll see what Armscor prices them at. No prices shown as yet. The AP revolvers are made in the Czech Republic and are popular in Europe. Comments I've seen from US Buyers have been very positive. The problem was that the former importer wasn't too good about having them in stock.

These are not to be confused with the Rock Island 206 .38s that run just over $200 online. So far Armscor is listing a 3" 6-shot 9mm that uses moon clips while they show 2 - 2" .357 Magnum models; one in stainless, one in blue steel. Alpha Project makes 3" 6-shot .38s and .357s as well as 4 & 6" models. Some of the .38s come at a lower price due to alloy frames while the steel frame models cost a bit more. The .357s are all-steel. Hopefully Armscor will expand the line with more options. ;-)

That 3” 9mm looks interesting, if the price is right....

Yeah, it's a looker. Decreasing the size of the "billboards" would help and the sideplate screws could have smaller heads. Wish they would offer the 3" .357 Mag. But if sales are good enough I suspect that we'll see other models added. One thing that might not be readily appearant is the crane the AP revolvers use that allows more "meat" in the frame forward of the cylinder. Armscor gets into some technicals while not giving a clear definition. The frames need to be strong because they are closer in size to the Smith K-Frame than they are to the L-Frame or Ruger GP100.

Prices should be lower than Rugers, and if they're comparable to Taurus revolvers, ain't much doubt about which way I'd go. They even have a .32 Target revolver should Armscor choose to import it. ;-)
