The Sharpie mark is to ID your brass vs range brass or other reloaders.

That makes sense. My brass supply is still small so I scrounge everything I can currently.

I often carry more than one load type in ammo boxes ..... each load type gets a different color on the primer and the load cards (kept in the box) are marked to designate the color. Especially useful when trying different powder loads and using the same bullet style.
