Second Amendment law is a huge mess--even after Heller. Ginsburg is very anti-Second Amendment. The sooner she gets off the Court the better.
Good thing we live in gun-friendly Texas where we do not have to worry about the future of our AR15s.

We don't have to worry. For now. Texas is becoming more liberal every day.dlh wrote:Second Amendment law is a huge mess--even after Heller. Ginsburg is very anti-Second Amendment. The sooner she gets off the Court the better.

And to the libs, AR-15's are only a first step.

I think they are referring to the AR-15's that vanished in that tragic boating accident a while ago.EastTexasRancher wrote:What AR-15's?Soccerdad1995 wrote:dlh wrote: And to the libs, AR-15's are only a first step.

This can not be said enough. Texas is turning blue. It may not be in the next election cycle, or the one after, but mark my words...TX is going blue. One day folks will wake up and realize it's too late to prevent it.

As of October 13th last year: Texas has 15,015,700 voters, which is about 78 percent of Texas’ estimated voting age population of 19,307,355.
Future projections for Texas:
There is another article about changes in Texas’s voting demographics here: Texas Tribune.Texas, like California, is now a minority-majority state. This means that Hispanics, African Americans and other minorities constitute the majority of the state (Hispanics can be of any race and were traditionally classified as white following the United States acquisition of Mexico's territory.) The Hispanic population had continued to increase, based on both natural increase and continued immigration from Mexico. It accounted for 38.1% of the state's population as of 2011 (compared to 44.8% for non-Hispanic whites).[6]
The state's changing demographics may result in a change in its overall political alignment, as most Hispanic and Latino voters support the Democratic Party.[7] Mark Yzaguirre questioned forecasts of Democratic dominance by highlighting Governor Rick Perry's courting of 39% of Hispanics in his victory in the 2010 Texas Gubernatorial.[8] Analysts with Gallup suggest that low turnout among Texas Hispanics is all that enables continued Republican dominance.[9] The African American population in Texas also is increasing due to the New Great Migration, many of them support the Democratic party.[10]
[Emphasis mine - TAM]
By the way, Texas Tribune said that this was the best political ad ever:

One change I would like to see made in Texas’s voting laws is the elimination of “straight ticket” voting. Voting is one of a citizen’s most important civic responsibilities. It is bad enough that only 78% of people of voting age are registered to vote, and worse yet that history shows that nowhere near all of them vote, but walking in with your eyes closed and pushing the “straight vote” button is a complete abdication of a citizen’s responsibility to carefully consider whether an individual candidate is worthy of the office - regardless of whether he/she is from one’s own party or not. Straight ticket voting is why people like Anthony Weiner (the most descriptive name in current politics) kept getting reelected.....voters in his district blindly voting party instead of the character of the person.

I’m not hiding the fact that I own multiple ARs. If you’re afraid for your 2A right and your firearms it is time to use them.EastTexasRancher wrote:What AR-15's?Soccerdad1995 wrote:dlh wrote: And to the libs, AR-15's are only a first step.

If you’re not afraid for your 2A rights you're not paying attention.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Re: Supreme Court rejects 2 gun rights appeals
It's a good thing I live by a lake. Haha.
It's getting harder and harder to trust party lines anymore. With a Republican controlled federal government, 2A isn't improving. In fact, it may be the opposite. Oddly enough, all Obama (D) did in his 8 years with gun control is let us into NPS controlled territory with a gun (yeah, it was crammed into the credit card bill, but whatever. He still signed it). Let's not forget that John Kasich (R) is anti-2A, and Bernie Sanders (D) has a track record for voting for NRA sponsored bills.
In a nutshell, we have to keep fighting for our 2A rights despite the supposedly good looking political climate for 2A supporters. We all need to be fighting as hard as we were when the Dems controlled the federal government and when Hillary was still running. In the event things look bleak for us, I'm strategically forming my firearm collection now so I don't have to worry too much about bans. If that happens... well, I live by a lake. Accidents happen.

Government, like fire is a dangerous servant and a fearful master
